Ultraviolet Light Therapy for Psoriasis
Archives of Dermatology, 1975To the Editor.— In the April 1974 issue of theArchives, Drs. Stern and Kihiczak reported the results of their attempts to determine the action spectrum of ultraviolet light-induced clearing of psoriasis (109:502, 1974). Using a xenon arc solar simulator and a cold quartz lamp, the authors compared the clearing of psoriatic plaques that occurred after ...

CLINICAL ASPECTS OF ULTRAVIOLET THERAPY
Journal of the American Medical Association, 1938To write another article on the subject of ultraviolet therapy would seem, at first sight, to be quite inexcusable. There are few subjects on which more papers have been published, few subjects more ably covered in articles of review, and, one might add, no subject more capable of reducing to utter despair an author faced with the necessity of saying ...

Instruments for Measuring Ultraviolet Radiation and the Unit of Dosage in Ultraviolet Therapy
The British Journal of Radiology, 1930In this paper the following topics are discussed: 1. It is pointed out that time and expense do not permit the general office use of complicated apparatus to determine the intensity of the ultraviolet radiation used for therapeutic purposes; that reliable simple dosage meters do not appear to be available for general use; that by proper standardization

Ultraviolet versus non-ultraviolet light therapy for seasonal affective disorder.
The Journal of clinical psychiatry, 1991Although light therapy has been shown to be effective in the treatment of seasonal affective disorder (SAD), little research has been done to determine which light wavelengths affect treatment outcome. In this triple crossover study the authors compared 1 week of light therapy in which bright (2500 lux), full-spectrum fluorescent light, with and ...

Conversion factors for ultraviolet radiation dosage with different types of ultraviolet therapy.
Photo-dermatology, 1985Erythema thresholds were determined using 4 different UV units before and after photosensitization with psoralens or coal tar in healthy volunteers. Conversion factors for equivalent erythema-producing UV doses with the different types of treatment were calculated on the basis of the erythema thresholds.
