Amylibacter ulvae sp. nov., a new alphaproteobacterium isolated from the Pacific green alga Ulva fenestrata

Archives of Microbiology, 2016
A strictly aerobic, Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped and non-motile bacterium, designated strain 6Alg 255(T), was isolated from the green alga Ulva fenestrata. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequencing revealed that the novel strain affiliated to the family Rhodobacteraceae of the class Alphaproteobacteria being most closely related to ...

Ulva prolifera Transcriptome sequencing

2016
the present study comparative analysis of transcriptome sequencing of the U. prolifera under salicylic acid addition at high temperature (UpSHT-treatment) and high temperature (UpHT-control) conditions has been investigated to understand the molecular functions of salicylic acid in regulated high temperature stress.

Diploid Gametes in Ulva

Nature, 1962
IN the course of experiments on Ulva mutabilis1 some gametophytes are occasionally found forming swarmer which copulate neither with +-gametes nor with −-gametes. These swarmers are diploid, as revealed by cytological and genetical examination. They are biflagellate and of normal size, and otherwise they fully resemble normal gametes.

Photosynthetic studies on Ulva lactuca

Phytochemistry, 1972
Abstract The photosynthetic fixation of 14CO2 was studied in Ulva lactuca. Sucrose was the most highly labelled sugar, although glucose, fructose, xylose and myo-inositol also incorporated radioactivity. Starch and the sulphated polysaccharide were extracted and the radioactivity of each was measured, as was that of the constituent sugars of the ...

Investigations of the taxonomy and morphological variation of Ulva (Chlorophyta): Ulva californica Wille

Phycologia, 1986
Abstract The taxonomic relationships of Ulva californica, U. angusta and U. scagelii were evaluated through morphological studies of field and herbarium specimens, and through culture studies. These species show ecological, morphological and cytological similarities but differ in size, habit and distributions.

Habitat of Procerodes (Gunda) ulvae

Nature, 1936
IN his description of the adaptation of Procerodes ulvae to salinity, Pantin1 has given an account of the environment of this estuarine form. During a survey of the freshwater of Bardsey Island (Caernarvonshire) in the past summer, P. ulvae was found in two places under similar conditions.
