Reconstructing the Phylogeny of Capsosiphon fulvescens (Ulotrichales, Chlorophyta) from Korea Based on rbcL and 18S rDNA Sequences

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2016, Issue 1, 2016., 2016
Capsosiphon fulvescens is a filamentous green algae in the class Ulvophyceae. It has been consumed as food with unique flavor and soft texture to treat stomach disorders and hangovers, and its economic value justifies studying its nutritional and potential therapeutic effects.

Effects of spatial scale of sampling on food web structure

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 5, Issue 17, Page 3769-3782, September 2015., 2015
This study investigates whether commonly studied properties of network structure vary with spatial scale, using highly resolved empirical food webs for the marine intertidal of the Sanak Archipelago in the Eastern Aleutian Islands. We find through analyses using niche and power‐law scaling models that although raw structural properties of networks vary

Physiological and Biochemical Responses of Ulva prolifera and Ulva linza to Cadmium Stress

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
Responses of Ulva prolifera and Ulva linza to Cd2+ stress were studied. We found that the relative growth rate (RGR), Fv/Fm, and actual photochemical efficiency of PSII (Yield) of two Ulvaspecies were decreased under Cd2+ treatments, and these reductions were greater in U. prolifera than in U. linza. U. prolifera accumulated more cadmium than U.

Sequences Analysis of ITS Region and 18S rDNA of Ulva

open access: yesInternational Scholarly Research Notices, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
Ulva, as the main genera involved in green tides in the Yellow Sea, has attracted serious concern in China. Especially, Ulva prolifera is one of the causative species of the occurring. This paper focused on the complete sequences analyses of ITS, 18S, and the combined data to determine phylogenetic relationships among taxa currently attributed to Ulva,

3-Hydroxy-4,7-megastigmadien-9-one, isolated from Ulva pertusa, attenuates TLR9-mediated inflammatory response by down-regulating mitogen-activated protein kinase and NF-κB pathways

open access: yesPharmaceutical Biology, 2017
Context: Seaweeds are rich in bioactive compounds in the form of vitamins, phycobilins, polyphenols, carotenoids, phycocyanins and polysaccharides; many of these are known to have advantageous applications in human health.
