An Isolated Umbilical Point of the Graph of a Homogeneous Polynomial

Geometriae Dedicata, 2000
Consider a homogeneous polynomial \(f\) in two real variables \(x,y\) of degree \(k\geq 3\) whose graph \((x,y,f(x,y))\) in \(\mathbb{R}^3\) has the origin \(o\) as an isolated umbilic point. It is proved, that the index \(l\) of \(o\) belongs to the set \(\{1,0, \dots, 1-k/2\}\) if \(k\) is even or \(\{1/2,-1/2, \dots, 1-k/2\}\) if \(k\) is odd ...

Umbilical venous catheter extravasation diagnosed by point-of-care ultrasound

Archives of Disease in Childhood - Fetal and Neonatal Edition, 2020
A 24-week gestational age neonate with severe respiratory distress syndrome was managed with high-frequency oscillatory ventilation and inotropes. Umbilical artery catheter and umbilical venous catheter (UVC) were inserted on day 1. UVC aspirated blood freely at the time of insertion and followed a straight course on abdominal X-ray (AXR).

Point-of-care ultrasound use in umbilical line placement: a review

Journal of Perinatology, 2019
Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) has become a novel tool for assessing umbilical catheter tip location in the neonate. This review analyzes the current evidence on the efficacy and utility of POCUS for identifying umbilical catheter positioning. Medline, EMBASE, and Cochrane searches were performed until October 2018.

Riemann Problem for Conservation Laws with an Umbilic Point

2003
We study the Riemann problems for 2 × 2 conservation laws with a hyperbolic singularity. The flux are a pair of quadratic functions where the char acteristic speeds are equals and the Jacobian matrix is diagonal at the hyperbolic singularity i.e. umbilic point. Discontinuous solutions will be considered.

On Pointing Accuracy and Pointing Stability of Disturbance-Free Payload Using Umbilical Connection

2018 37th Chinese Control Conference (CCC), 2018
Pointing accuracy and pointing stability play an important role in gravitational wave detection spacecraft. This paper presents dynamics model, pointing accuracy and stability analysis of a payload-spacecraft system connected using umbilical and non-contact actuators.

On conditions for existence of umbilical points on a convex surface

Siberian Mathematical Journal, 1995
Let \(F\) be a connected complete \(C^\infty\) surface homeomorphic to a plane in the Euclidean space \(\mathbb{R}^3\) and \(k_1\), \(k_2\) its principal curvatures. The author establishes the following result. If the surface \(F\) satisfies one of the following conditions: (i) the integral curvature is strictly smaller than \(2\pi\), (ii) the Gauss ...
