Umbilical Artery Doppler in the Assessment of Fetal Growth Restriction

Clinics in Perinatology, 2011
Antepartum fetal surveillance with Doppler ultrasound of umbilical artery has shown significant diagnostic efficacy in identifying fetal compromise in pregnancies complicated with fetal growth restriction (FGR). Its effectiveness in decreasing perinatal mortality has been shown by randomized clinical trials (Level I evidence).

The choice of index for umbilical artery Doppler waveforms

Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology, 1989
Umbilical artery Doppler waveforms acquired from 211 patients were used to investigate the power of different waveform indices in predicting antenatal fetal compromise. Waveform indices were calculated using a BBC microcomputer. The specificity at 100% sensitivity for detection of antenatal fetal compromise was not significantly different for ...

Doppler Umbilical Artery Velocimetry in Fetuses with Polyhydramnios

American Journal of Perinatology, 1990
Polyhydramnios is a condition of multiple etiologies, many of a benign nature, but some of which are incompatible with life. To evaluate Doppler velocimetry results as a prognostic parameter in these fetuses, we reviewed all of our cases of polyhydramnios that underwent Doppler analysis in the third trimester. Fifty-four fetuses were studied.

Doppler in Obstetrics

Clinical Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2012
Doppler analysis of the umbilical and uterine arteries has long been performed in perinatal medicine to assess fetal health and maternal risk for preeclampsia. Several other vessels can be interrogated to obtain additional, vital information. Velocimetry in the fetal middle cerebral artery can yield evidence of the presence or absence of anemia and, in

Is Notching in the Umbilical Artery Doppler Waveform a Benign Finding?

Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, 2005
Adiastolic notch in the uterine artery Doppler flow velocity waveform (FVW) is associated with an increased uterine vascular impedance, impaired uterine blood flow, and adverse perinatal outcome. 1 Likewise, uterine artery notching combined with an abnormal FVW of the umbilical artery (UA) is considered a predictor of adverse neonatal outcome.

Umbilical Artery Doppler Waveform Notching

Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, 2002
Objective. To evaluate in a prospective, controlled fashion the prevalence of umbilical artery Doppler waveform notching and its association with cord and placental abnormalities. Methods. During a 6‐month period, umbilical artery velocity waveforms were prospectively obtained on 1857 pregnancies at greater than 27 weeks' gestation.

Umbilical Artery Doppler Flow Studies during Pregnancy

Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic & Neonatal Nursing, 1990
The fetus depends upon adequate uteroplacental blood flow for normal growth and development. Inaccessibility of the fetus has made assessment of uteroplacental blood flow difficult. Doppler ultrasound of umbilical artery blood flow provides a noninvasive method for assessing pregnancies at risk for poor outcomes.

Pregnancy screening by Doppler uteroplacental and umbilical artery waveforms

BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1989
SummaryDoppler waveforms from the uteroplacental and umbilical arteries were studied in 543 unselected women attending an antenatal clinic. Overall, 357 women were studied at 26–30 weeks and 395 at 34–36 weeks; 209 were studied at both gestation periods. Results were not made available to clinicians.

Hemodynamic Foundation of Umbilical Arterial Doppler Waveform Analysis

Biology of the Neonate, 2009
This paper reviews various in vitro and in vivo studies which have been conducted to investigate the influence of central and peripheral circulatory factors on the Doppler indices. These studies indicate that the Doppler indices are affected by both central and peripheral hemodynamics.

Doppler Examinations of the Umbilical and Uterine Arteries During Pregnancy

Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1989
