Pregnancy surveillance with Doppler velocimetry of uterine and umbilical arteries

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1989
Previous studies with Doppler velocimetry have demonstrated a strong correlation between abnormal waveforms and fetal-maternal disease. This study was designed to evaluate the potential role of Doppler velocimetry as a screening test in routine prenatal care.

The use of umbilical artery Doppler ultrasonography in modern obstetrics

Current Opinion in Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1997
In contrast to the reduction in perinatal mortality in high-risk pregnancies, screening of low-risk pregnancies with umbilical artery Doppler ultrasonography has shown no benefit. Advances in pathophysiology question the assumption that the placenta is hypoxic in fetal growth restriction, with absent end-diastolic frequencies in the umbilical artery ...

Maternal glycemic control and umbilical artery Doppler velocimetry

The Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine, 2002
To determine whether information from umbilical artery Doppler flow velocity waveforms significantly improves the prediction of adverse perinatal outcome, independently of maternal glycemic control, in pregnancies complicated by diabetes. The medical records of 277 pregnant women with diabetes were reviewed.

Umbilical Artery Doppler Velocimetry in Pregnancies Complicated by Oligohydramnios

Obstetric and Gynecologic Survey, 2001
To determine the role of umbilical artery Doppler velocimetry in the management of oligohydramnios. In a retrospective chart review covering a two-year period, pregnancies with oligohydramnios evaluated by Doppler velocimetry of the umbilical artery were identified.

Fetal Doppler: Umbilical Artery, Middle Cerebral Artery, and Venous System

Seminars in Perinatology, 2008
One of the most important applications of Doppler ultrasonography in obstetrics is the detection of fetal anemia in pregnancies complicated by either red-cell alloimmunization or by other causes of fetal anemia. Doppler of the umbilical artery also has prognostic value in pregnancies affected by twin-twin transfusion syndrome undergoing in-utero ...

Doppler based identification of uterine artery and umbilical artery for monitoring pregnancy

2010 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology, 2010
In this paper, we present an algorithm to identify umbilical and uterine arteries from a set of four different maternal and fetal arteries using their Doppler signatures. To distinguish these arteries, we use 132 Doppler signals collected from pregnant women with gestational ages between 24 to 40 weeks.

Components of variability of umbilical arterial Doppler velocimetry-A prospective analysis

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1989
This study prospectively analyzed the components of variance and error contributions of umbilical arterial Doppler indices in a normal pregnant population (308 women) with gestational ages ranging from 27 to 40 weeks. A continuous-wave Doppler instrument with a 4 MHz transducer was used.

Doppler velocimetry in the fetus with a single umbilical artery.

The Journal of reproductive medicine, 1999
To study Doppler velocimetry in fetuses with a single umbilical artery (SUA) as compared to normal.Private and clinic patients were referred to a perinatal center: 45 with SUA and 124 randomly selected fetuses with a three-vessel cord were studied from 18 to 41 weeks' gestation.

[Doppler ultrasound of the umbilical artery of the dystrophic child].

Ultraschall in der Medizin (Stuttgart, Germany : 1980), 1991
In a group of 810 singleton pregnancies without malformations or chromosomal abnormalities blood flow velocity wave forms of the umbilical artery were recorded in the third trimester by means of a pulsed duplex Doppler system. We calculated the pulsatility index (PI).
