“Will you be there for me?” Social support from family and friends during cold case sexual assault prosecutions

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract If sexual assault survivors report the assault to the criminal legal system, they often need informal support from family and friends throughout the long and frequently retraumatizing process of investigation and prosecution. This study is part of a long‐term community‐based participatory action research project in a predominately Black ...

Room‐Temperature Gas‐Phase CO2‐to‐C3 Coupling by a 4f‐Aromatic Cluster

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We engineered a 4f metalla aromatic cluster, PrB2C2−, that enables efficient sequential C−C coupling with CO2 at room temperature, yielding a linear C3 backbone. This system provides a complete theoretical catalytic cycle and establishes a new design principle for lanthanide mediated CO2 activation.

Biallelic Germline Inactivation of HROB Causes Primary Gonadal Insufficiency and is Potentially Associated with Colonic Polyposis Predisposition

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Homologous Recombination Factor With OB‐Fold (HROB) plays a role in homologous recombination and DNA replication, where it enhances the MCM8‐MCM9 helicase complex activity. Recent findings link biallelic germline HROB variants to primary gonadal insufficiency (hypergonadotropic hypogonadism), a phenotype also associated with MCM8/MCM9 ...

Psychiatric and Cognitive Features in Italian Women With the FMR1 Premutation: A Comprehensive Assessment Using SCID‐5 and Standardized Cognitive Measures

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Women with the FMR1 premutation (PM) are at increased risk for fragile X‐associated conditions (FXPAC), including cognitive and psychiatric features collectively termed fragile X‐associated neuropsychiatric disorders (FXAND). This study is the first to systematically investigate cognitive and psychiatric features in Italian female premutation ...

Intersecting with Unaware Objects [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2015 ACM SIGCHI Conference on Creativity and Cognition, 2015
We adopt a design-oriented approach aimed at motivating and expanding the notion of everyday creativity beyond explicit interactions to also include the implicit, incremental and, at times even, unknowing encounters that emerge among people, technologies, and artifacts over time.

Standard State Space Models of Unawareness (Extended Abstract) [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Proceedings in Theoretical Computer Science, 2016
The impossibility theorem of Dekel, Lipman and Rustichini has been thought to demonstrate that standard state-space models cannot be used to represent unawareness. We first show that Dekel, Lipman and Rustichini do not establish this claim.

National and International Monitoring of Student Literacy and Numeracy Attainment: The Case for Rigorous Macro and Micro Analysis

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In her 2024 paper Are Australian students' academic skills declining? Interrogating 25 years of national and international standardised assessment data, Larsen compiled an impressive summary of major international (PISA, PIRLS and TIMSS) and national (NAPLAN) standardised assessments pertaining to literacy and numeracy.

A Note on Unawareness and Zero Probability [PDF]

open access: yes
I study how choice behavior given unawareness of an event differs from choice behavior given subjective belief of zero probability on that event. Depending on different types of unawareness the decision-maker suffers, behavior under unawareness is either
