Monte Carlo-Based Comprehensive Assessment of PV Hosting Capacity and Energy Storage Impact in Realistic Finnish Low-Voltage Networks

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
The direction taken towards sustainable power system and renewable energy generation is now irreversible. The power grid needs to host more renewable energy sources, such as solar power, and tackle power quality problems that come along with it.

Echocardiographic preoperative evaluation of unbalanced atrioventricular septal defect [PDF]

open access: yesБългарска кардиология, 2020
Unbalanced atrioventricular septal defect is seen by 10-15% of the patients with this congenital heart disease and poses serious challenges for the treating physicians regarding the choice of the most suitable operative intervention.

Influence of grid configuration on current conducting behaviour in PV installations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
On the roof of an industrial site a 385 kWp PhotoVoltaic installation is operational. When production of this system reaches 60% of the installed power, the circuit breaker trips.

Q-Factor Analysis of Unbalance Vibration in Rotor-Bearing Systems

open access: yesBulletin of JSME, 1982
Q-factor is usually a pratical means for predicting maximum amplitude at critical speeds. However, it is not accurate in the case of systems with strong gyroscopic effect, large damping coefficients and asymmetric properties in bearing dynamics. In this study these problems are solved through a new definition of the Q-factor. The unbalance vibration is

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Development of a Novel Control Scheme to Achieve the Minimum Unbalance Factor and Real Power Fluctuations under Asymmetrical Faults

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
The increasing share of converter-based renewable energy sources in the power system has forced the system operators to demand voltage support from the converters in case of faults.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Piezoceramics-based Devices for Active Balancing of Flexible Shafts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper focuses on vibration control of flexible shafts by means of rotorfixed piezoelectric materials. The target is to realize compact solutions for the suppression of problematic resonant vibration at so-called flexural critical speeds.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
