Three-phase unbalanced-voltage compensators
International Journal of Electronics, 2000In this paper, three-phase unbalanced-voltage compensators using ac choppers are proposed. The proposed three-phase unbalanced-voltage compensators are made up of three single-phase ac choppers and transformers for unbalanced-voltage compensation and output voltage regulation.

Current Compensators for Unbalanced Electric Distribution Systems
2018 IEEE Electronic Power Grid (eGrid), 2018Inherent current imbalances are often present in electric distribution systems due to the increase of single-phase generation in the form of renewables and the existence of single-phase loads. The continued expansion of non-linear load usage is also increasing the levels of harmonics through the power transformers servicing these distribution systems ...

SSC Compensation Capability of Unbalanced Voltage Sags
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2005In this paper, the capacity of a static series compensator (SSC) to compensate for voltage sags is discussed, and a complete analysis of the effects of unbalanced sags on the SSC compensation capability is carried out. Expressions are obtained for the missing voltage during unbalanced voltage sags.

Mitigation of Unbalanced Voltage Dips Using Static Series Compensator
IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2004The static series compensator (SSC) is suited to protect sensitive loads against voltage dips. Because most of the power system faults are single- or double-phase, the control algorithms of the SSC should be adapted for unbalanced dips. This paper proposes two control strategies to improve the dynamic performance of the SSC.

Unbalanced Faults in Series Compensated Transmission Lines
IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1971This paper presents a technique using the Gauss-Seidel iterative approach for the analysis of power systems which contain series compensated lines. This approach includes the effect of system dissymmetries due to a single unbalanced fault and due to a single or -two phase series capacitor short circuit caused by the excessive fault currents.

An active power filter and unbalanced current compensator
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 1997This paper presents the synthesis and performance of a shunt active power filter based on the three-phase pulsewidth modulation (PWM) voltage converter connected to the AC mains. Current harmonics and asymmetries caused by nonlinear loads can be compensated.

Unbalanced voltage compensation in low voltage residential AC grids
2016 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2016This paper describes the design and test of a control algorithm for active front-end rectifiers that draw power from a residential AC grid to feed heat pump loads. The control algorithm is able to control the phase to neutral or phase to phase RMS voltages at the point of common coupling. The voltage control was evaluated with either active or reactive

Unbalanced voltage drops compensations using flywheel energy storage system
11th International Conference on Electrical Power Quality and Utilisation, 2011A novel flywheel energy storage system is proposed in this study. The energy storage system consists of a flywheel coupled to permanent magnets synchronous machine. The stored energy is used for an unbalanced drop correction for the critical load using Three-Leg Four-Wire Converter.

Unbalanced ZCP Compensation Method for Position Sensorless BLDC Motor
IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2019This letter presents a position sensorless control method of brushless dc (BLDC) motors considering unbalanced zero-crossing detection of back electromotive force (back EMF). The zero-crossing point (ZCP) of back EMF voltage is detected by comparing the dc-link voltage with the back EMF voltage.

Unbalanced and reactive power compensation for grid friendly microgrids
3rd Renewable Power Generation Conference (RPG 2014), 2014Microgrids are low-voltage distribution networks comprising various renewable power sources, storage units, and local loads. Microgrids can be utilized to provide different services for the main grid such as grid supporting during peak period. In microgrids single phase loads or sources can be used by the end-users and can make the grid currents ...
