Voltage Source Converter Control Under Unbalanced Grid Voltage

2021
The conventional control of the voltage source converter (VSC) assumes that the input voltage is balanced. However, unbalanced voltage is a phenomenon that occurs frequently in actual industrial sites. If the grid voltage is unbalanced, THD increases due to voltage negative component, and low harmonic components appear in DC-link voltage, which ...

Impact of unbalanced grid conditions on PV systems

IEEE PES General Meeting, 2010
With more and more photovoltaic (PV) panels, energy storage devices and other small generators being put into service, it is necessary to integrate them into power systems. Grid integration provides a reliable means for customers to use renewable energy such as solar at its maximum and to use other sources as backup.

Unbalanced faults analysis in grid - Connected PV system

2014 IEEE International Conference on Power and Energy (PECon), 2014
A search for replacement of non-renewable energy leads to a new founding that is renewable energy which is unlimited energy source. One of the renewable energy is solar energy where photovoltaic (PV) array is used to convert the energy from the sun to electrical energy. PV is widely use in the grid-connected system nowadays.

Wind Turbine Harmonics caused by Unbalanced Grid Currents

2007 Compatibility in Power Electronics, 2007
For wind turbines that feed into public grids limits for voltage and current harmonics must be assured. To verify that the actual levels are valid, measurements are necessary. Problems can occur to determine which part of these harmonics has its origin in the wind turbine.

Nonsinusoidal power caused by measurements of grid impedances at unbalanced grid voltages

2008 International School on Nonsinusoidal Currents and Compensation, 2008
At low-voltage level there is already a commercial measurement device that is able to identify the grid impedance in dependency of time and frequency. Since at the low-voltage level a four-wire system and at the medium-and high-voltage level a three-wire system is installed, the method to identify the grid impedance has to be varied.

Analysis of wind driven grid connected induction generators under unbalanced grid conditions

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 1994
A wind driven induction generator feeding power to the grid has been analyzed under the abnormal condition of unbalanced grid voltages. Using the symmetrical component and double revolving field theory, appropriate equivalent circuits and model equations have been derived for the generating mode with suitable realistic modifications.

Control strategy for inverter in a micro-grid under unbalanced grid condition

2016 IEEE Conference on Technologies for Sustainability (SusTech), 2016
Micro-grid is gaining momentum as it addresses grave concerns like climate change and energy security. This paper presents power flow control algorithm for voltage source inverter used in a micro-grid under unbalanced grid conditions. Energy Storage and local energy source are the key components of the micro-grid that is required to help stabilize grid.

Circulating Current Suppression for MMC-HVDC under Unbalanced Grid Conditions

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2016
Modular multilevel converter (MMC) is believed the most competitive solution for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission using voltage source converters. Circulating current suppressing strategies based on proportional resonant (PR) controllers are widely used in MMC. This kind of strategies can effectively eliminate all the circulating current
