Organic Thin‐Film Transistors for Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 12, Issue 9, 11 May 2026.
Organic thin‐film transistors (OTFTs) are reviewed for neuromorphic computing applications, highlighting their power‐efficient, and biological time‐scale operation. This article surveys OFET and OECT devices, compares them with memristors and CMOS, analyzes how fabrication parameters shape spike‐based metrics, proposes standardized characterization ...

An Integrated Chemicals‐Free Circular Model for Lithium Recovery From Spent Batteries to Direct Lithium Extraction From Brines

open access: yesBattery Energy, Volume 5, Issue 3, May 2026.
A simple, chemical‐free method based on a 5‐min microwave treatment and using only water enables the synthesis of Li/Al layered double hydroxides (LDHs) from waste lithium‐ion batteries. These Li/Al LDHs can then be used for lithium extraction from primary resources, supporting a truly sustainable circular economy for lithium.

Uncommon Mechanism of Mangled Lower Limb Trauma: Case Report of Salvaged Leg Post Gear Box Explosion Injury

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Mangled limb injuries, typically caused by high‐energy trauma, present significant challenges in surgical decision‐making, particularly when considering limb salvage versus primary amputation. While common mechanisms include vehicular or industrial accidents, unconventional etiologies are rarely documented. We report a unique case of a 43‐year‐

How Large, Decayed, and Moist Must Rotting Logs Be to Act as Thermally Buffered Microhabitats in Temperate Eastern United States Forests?

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
This study addresses the ecological role of coarse woody debris (CWD) as a thermally buffered microhabitat for saproxylic organisms in temperate eastern US forests. We measured internal and external log temperatures across four seasons in Southern Appalachian forests to test how log diameter, decay stage, and moisture influence thermal buffering.

Cyclic Peptide Conformational Landscapes Through the Lens of Mass Spectrometry and Orthogonal Spectroscopy

open access: yesJournal of Mass Spectrometry, Volume 61, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Cyclic peptides occupy a structurally dynamic region of chemical space, where function often arises from ensembles rather than a single dominant fold. Closed backbones, frequent N‐methylation, heteroatoms, unnatural amino acids, and a strong propensity for metal coordination create dense conformational and coordination landscapes that ...
