Recovery of hippocampal functions and modulation of muscarinic response by electroacupuncture in young diabetic rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The muscarinic receptor response to acetylcholine regulates the hippocampal-related learning, memory, neural plasticity and the production and processing of the pro-nerve growth factor (proNGF) by hippocampal cells.

New Unconventional Processes of Plastic Forming of the Internal Toothing of Coupling Spline Sleeves

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2020
The article explores the possibility of using the authors’ three new methods of unconventional extrusion of deep hollows to be used for the manufacture of spline sleeves intended for internal toothing couplings. Two invention patents, PL206466 and PL224121, and one patent application, P.416772, were used for this purpose.

Transferable and Flexible Artificial Memristive Synapse Based on WOx Schottky Junction on Arbitrary Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, 2018
The absence of an effective approach to achieve free‐standing inorganic memristors seriously hinders the development of transferable artificial synapses.

Hardware implementation of tunable fractional-order capacitors by morphogenesis of conducting polymer dendrites [PDF]

open access: yesAPL Electronic Devices
Conventional electronics is founded on a paradigm where shaping perfect electrical elements is done at the fabrication plant, so as to make devices and systems identical, “eternally immutable.” In nature, morphogenic evolutions are observed in most ...

Structural Aspects and Characterization of Structure in the Processing of Titanium Grade4 Different Chips

open access: yesMetals, 2021
This study presents the structural aspects of the solid-state processing of various titanium chips. The structural characterization of: (1) commercial pure Ti in the as-received state, (2) manufactured chips, and (3) products of the chip processing are ...

Regulation of Neuromodulator Receptor Efficacy - Implications for Whole-Neuron and Synaptic Plasticity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Membrane receptors for neuromodulators (NM) are highly regulated in their distribution and efficacy - a phenomenon which influences the individual cell's response to central signals of NM release.

Unconventional plastic optical fiber design for very short multimode fiber link

open access: yesOptics Express, 2019
We introduce a graded-index plastic optical fiber (GI POF) design for very short-distance household applications, in which the transmission quality is predominantly determined by system noise rather than the loss and bandwidth. The developed GI POF has strong mode coupling with low accompanying scattering loss, which is closely related to the specific ...

Cyclic J-integral using the linear matching method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The extended version of the latest Linear Matching Method (LMM) has the capability to evaluate the stable cyclic response, which produces cyclic stresses, residual stresses and plastic strain ranges for the low cycle fatigue assessment with cyclic load ...

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

Decision support system to help choose between an ITE or a BTE hearing aid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A decision support system (DSS) is used for analysing a situation and making decisions. The goal of this research is to mine a large set of heterogeneous audiology data and create a DSS to help audiology technicians to choose between an ITE or BTE ...
