Clinical Insights Into Hypercalcemia of Malignancy in Childhood

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hypercalcemia of malignancy (HCM) is a rare but life‐threatening metabolic emergency in children that occurs in less than 1% of pediatric cancer cases, with a reported incidence ranging from 0.4% to 1.0% across different studies. While it is observed in 10%–20% of adult malignancies, pediatric HCM remains relatively uncommon.

Data Consistency Approach to Model Validation

open access: yes, 2019
In scientific inference problems, the underlying statistical modeling assumptions have a crucial impact on the end results. There exist, however, only a few automatic means for validating these fundamental modelling assumptions.

Effect of competitive cues on reproductive morphology and behavioral plasticity in male fruitflies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Phenotypic plasticity will be favored whenever there are significant fitness benefits of responding to environmental variation. The extent and nature of the plasticity that evolves depends on the rate of environmental fluctuations and the capacity to ...

Survival Outcomes and Complications Among Canadian Children With Retinoblastoma: A Population‐Based Report From CYP‐C

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Retinoblastoma (RB) is the most common pediatric ocular cancer, yet population‐based data on survival and risk factors remain limited. This study aimed to describe survival in a large national RB cohort and identify predictors of death and complications.

Study on Dispersion of Impulse Discharge in SF6 and Eco-Friendly Insulating Gas C4F7N/CO2

open access: yesEnergies
In recent years, C4F7N/CO2 gas has been widely studied as an eco-friendly alternative to SF6, which is commonly used in electrical equipment. To ensure electrical equipment reliability, the dispersion of impulse discharge voltage of insulated gas is ...

Personalized Selumetinib Dosing in Pediatric Neurofibromatosis Type 1: Insights From a Pilot Therapeutic Drug Monitoring Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate selumetinib exposure using therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) in pediatric patients with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) and plexiform neurofibromas (PN), assess interpatient pharmacokinetic variability, and explore the relationship between drug exposure, clinical response, and adverse effects.

A Learnheuristic Algorithm for the Capacitated Dispersion Problem under Dynamic Conditions

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2023
The capacitated dispersion problem, which is a variant of the maximum diversity problem, aims to determine a set of elements within a network. These elements could symbolize, for instance, facilities in a supply chain or transmission nodes in a ...

Strong succession in arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal communities. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The ecology of fungi lags behind that of plants and animals because most fungi are microscopic and hidden in their substrates. Here, we address the basic ecological process of fungal succession in nature using the microscopic, arbuscular mycorrhizal ...

Evaluating the Utility of Paired Tumor and Germline Targeted DNA Sequencing for Pediatric Oncology Patients: A Single Institution Report

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the diagnostic yield and utility of universal paired tumor–normal multigene panel sequencing in newly diagnosed pediatric solid and central nervous system (CNS) tumor patients and to compare the detection of germline pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants (PV/LPVs) against established clinical referral criteria for cancer ...

High Energy Ultrafast Laser at 2 μm Using Dispersion Engineered Thulium-Doped Fiber

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
We report on demonstration of high energy pulse laser at 2 μm by employing a normal dispersion fiber attained by a waveguide dispersion engineering. The normal dispersion fiber has a W-type refractive index profile, with a Thulium(Tm)-doped
