Study on Material Properties of Magnesium Oxide Carbonized Prestressed Pipe Piles

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2018
Traditional PHC pipe pile in foundation engineering consumes high energy and has insufficient durability. A magnesium oxide carbonization test block is a new type of environmental protection block which bases on activated magnesium oxide cementation ...

Compliant Polymeric Sheet‐Based Heat Exchangers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents flexible, transparent, and deployable polymer heat exchangers that achieve a heat transfer capacity per cost up to 4x higher than the state of the art, surpassing both metal and other polymer counterparts. The tube‐on‐tube design enables efficient heat transfer without flow occlusion, while the lightweight, corrosion‐resistant, and ...

Influences of hydro-mechanical conditions to fracturing behavior of sandstone analogs: approach and implications

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology
The compressive torsion (C-T) fractures are widely distributed in water-saturated, clay-poor, and cementation-weak Cretaceous sandstones in Western China due to asymmetric tectonic convergence.

Decoding Naturalistic Episodic Memory with Artificial Intelligence and Brain‐Machine Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Episodic memory weaves together what, where, and when of experience into a personal narrative. Cutting‐edge AI models may decode this intricate process in real‐life settings, revealing how neural activity encodes naturalistic memories. By merging AI with brain–machine interfaces, researchers are edging closer to mapping and even engineering memory ...

Optimal Grazing Exclusion Duration to Enhance Soil Carbon Sequestration in Degraded Grasslands

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Across China, grazing exclusion reaches the national mean soil organic carbon recovery benchmark sooner in high‐MAP regions (> 500 mm), but recovery is much slower where MAP < 300 mm. Scaling this strategy to 70% of China's degraded grasslands would sequester about 1.52 Pg of soil carbon over 10 years—roughly 17% of annual global fossil‐fuel emissions.

Induced eddy currents characteristics of coal gangue-based functional concrete in compression process

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu
Coal gangue-based cemented structures (CGCS) have been widely used in underground engineering. Due to the complex environment and limited space, there is still no effective method to monitor structural health in under-ground engineering.

A CLE11b‐CLE16 Signaling Relay Mediates Root‐Shoot‐Root Crosstalk for Drought Adaptation in Common Bean

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel root‐shoot‐root signaling relay, mediated by CLE peptides, coordinates drought adaptation in common bean. Root‐derived PvCLE11b translocates acropetally to leaves, inducing PvCLE16 expression via PvTCP10. Leaf‐accumulated PvCLE16 triggers stomatal closure and translocates basipetally to modulate root architecture.

SHPB Test and Microstructure Analysis on Ready-Mixed Concrete in Uniaxial Load and Passive Confining Pressure States

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2019
Ready-mixed concrete has been used as a support in mine roadways, where the impact load of blasting excavation can cause damage to the concrete support of the roadway. However, limited studies are available on the effect of water content, storage period,
