Hand wounds: An analysis of topography and related damage to underlying structures
Injury, 2022Hand wounds account for 35 to 51% of hand traumas. Damage to underlying anatomical structures depends on the location of the wound. The objective of this study is to describe the topographic distribution of hand wounds allowing for subsequent evaluation of the link between affected surface area and underlying lesion. We retrospectively reviewed the ...

The Cortical Topography of Tonal Structures Underlying Western Music
Science, 2002Western tonal music relies on a formal geometric structure that determines distance relationships within a harmonic or tonal space. In functional magnetic resonance imaging experiments, we identified an area in the rostromedial prefrontal cortex that tracks activation in tonal space.

Tropical Forest Height and Underlying Topography from Tandem-X SAR Interferometry
IGARSS 2020 - 2020 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2020Spaceborne SAR Interferometry (InSAR) has the sensitivity to measure canopy height as well as the underlying topography. However, these measurements are limited by attenuation of the radar wave. In this paper, we refine an interferometric approach that exploits few-look averaged interferograms, a coherent electromagnetic simulator and field inventory ...

Vegetation characteristics and underlying topography from interferometric radar
Radio Science, 1996This paper formulates and demonstrates methods for extracting vegetation characteristics and underlying ground surface topography from interferometric synthetic aperture radar (INSAR) data. The electromagnetic scattering and radar processing, which produce the INSAR observations, are modeled, vegetation and topographic parameters are identified for ...

Synchrotron x-ray topography studies have been conducted at the National Synchrotron Light Source at Brookhaven National Laboratory to correlate defects in HgCdTe epilayers with those in underlying CdTe family substrates. Infrared detectors have been fabricated on these epilayers to investigate the performance impact of specific defects.

Superficial topography of wound: A determinant of underlying biological events?
Medical Hypotheses, 2008Three-dimensional configuration of wounds varies considerably according to the etiology. Wounding of skin is proceeded by release of dermal pretension. Subsequent disruption of physical equilibrium with resulting development of force vectors alters the primary shape of wound to maintain a new dynamic physical equilibrium.

Cancellation of Scattering Mechanisms in PolInSAR: Application to Underlying Topography Estimation
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2013This paper investigates the polarimetric dependence of the interferometric complex correlation and proposes amethodology for cancelling individual scattering mechanisms, in terms of the complex correlation coefficient phase, under the assumption of the random volume over ground model.
