A new imaging technique that combines digitized images rotation and Fourier Transform is used to detect pattern orientation and characteristics of surface topography. In present work RIMAPS technique is used to obtain notonly the main directions of pattern alignment but also to show its roboustness detecting the existence of an underlying topography on

This paper quantitatively defines the nanoscale topography of the basement membrane underlying the anterior corneal epithelium of the macaque. Excised corneal buttons from macaques were placed in 2.5 mM ethylenediaminetetraacetate (EDTA) for 2.5 h, after which the epithelium was carefully removed to expose the underlying basement membrane.

Surface topography is a biophysical factor affecting cell behaviors, yet the underlying cues are still not clear. Herein, we hypothesized that stereo coverage and overall stiffness of biomaterial arrays on the scale of single cells underly parts of topography effects on cell adhesion.

Full-chip correction of implant layer accounting for underlying topography
SPIE Proceedings, 2012Photolithography for the formerly "non-critical" implant blocking layers is becoming more challenging as edge placement control budgets for junction definition shrink with each node. In addition to the traditional proximity effects associated with the implant layer mask, the underlying active and gate layers can interact through a variety of ...

Underlying Topography Estimation Over Forest Areas Using Single-Baseline InSAR Data
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2019In this paper, a method for digital elevation model (DEM) extraction over forest areas from single-baseline interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) data is proposed. The main idea of this method is that some backscattering variations which are linked to the geometrical structures of forest occur during the radar acquisition. The time–frequency

The topography of the extracellular microenvironment influences cell morphology, provides conduct guidance and directs cell differentiation. Aspect ratio and dimension of topography have been shown to affect cell behaviours, but the ability and mechanism of depth-sensing is not clearly understood.

Toward engineering a cardiac patch, the objective of this work was to assess stem cell response to a three-dimensional (3D) nanofibrous scaffold and probe the underlying molecular mechanisms including both cell signaling and epigenetic changes. Cardiomyogenesis of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) in 3D poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) nanofibers and ...

Underlying topography extraction over forest areas from multi-baseline PolInSAR data
Journal of Geodesy, 2017In this paper, the digital elevation model (DEM) for a forest area is extracted from multi-baseline (MB) polarimetric interferometric synthetic aperture radar (PolInSAR) data. On the basis of the random-volume-over-ground (RVoG) model, the weighted complex least-squares adjustment (WCLSA) method is proposed for the ground phase estimation, so that the ...

Vegetation bias removal and underlying topography estimation using polarimetric SAR interferometry
2004Vegetation affects the possibility of providing global surface mapping based on Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (InSAR). The estimation of ground topography in vegetated areas is an important task both, for scientific and commercial applications. Therefore, the need of quantifying and removing the vegetation bias arises.
