Distributed Undervoltage Load Shedding [PDF]
A new design of load shedding against long-term voltage instability is proposed. It uses a set of distributed controllers, each monitoring a transmission voltage, controlling a group of loads, acting in closed-loop, and adjusting its action to the voltage evolution. The whole system operates without information exchange between controllers.

Undervoltage Load Shedding Using Distributed Controllers [PDF]
A new load shedding scheme against long-term voltage instability is proposed. It uses a set of distributed controllers, each monitoring transmission voltages in a zone and controlling a group of related loads. Each controller acts in closed-loop, shedding amounts that vary in magnitude and time according to the evolution of its monitored voltage.

Examination of Composite Load and Variable Frequency Drive Air Conditioning Modeling on FIDVR
Fault induced delayed voltage recovery (FIDVR) is a credible concern in power systems with high penetration of single-phase air conditioner loads. Power system planning studies use dynamic load models, such as the Western Electricity Coordinating Council

Resilience Analysis and Cascading Failure Modeling of Power Systems Under Extreme Temperatures
In this paper, we propose an AC power flow based cascading failure model that explicitly considers external weather conditions, extreme temperatures in particular, and evaluates the impact of extreme temperature on the initiation and propagation of ...

Power Prioritization and Load Shedding in an Island with RESs Using ABC Algorithm
The main aim of a power utility company is to supply quality and uninterrupted power to customers. This becomes a growing challenge as the continued increase in population calls for proportional increase in power supply to additional loads.

Undervoltage load shedding scheme for the Hydro-Quebec system [PDF]
In recent years, Hydro-Quebec has undertaken a major program to upgrade the reliability of its transmission system. Much effort has been focused on increasing the system's ability to withstand extreme contingencies, usually caused by multiple incidents or the successive tripping of transmission lines. This work deals with the conception and the control

Stability Analysis and Voltage Control in the Power System Based on the Hybrid Automata Model
This paper proposes a systematic method using the hybrid automata (HA) model for supervisory management design of power systems to increase stability. The HA model monitors the behavior of the power system and derives a model from which the system’s stability is evaluated.
