IN4MER Biomaterial Ink: A Phosphorescent Biosensing Biomaterial Ink for Multiple Analytes (Glucose, Lactate, Oxygen) Measurements and Temperature Sensing Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multianalyte, real‐time monitoring of bioprinted scaffolds remains challenging. Phosphorescence‐lifetime–based, optically responsive microparticles are embedded in diverse printable hydrogels (κ‐carrageenan, GelMA, PEGDA) to form biomaterial inks that report oxygen, glucose, lactate, and temperature.

Underwater Image Enhancement Using An Integrated Colour Model. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In underwater situations, clarity of images are degraded by light absorption and scattering. This causes one colour to dominate the image.

Vertical water velocities from underwater gliders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The underwater glider is set to become an important platform for oceanographers to gather data within oceans. Gliders are usually equipped with a conductivity/temperature/depth (CTD) sensor, but a wide range of other sensors has been fitted to gliders ...

Mechanical Behavior and Fracture Mechanisms of MXene/PVDF Nanocomponsites: In Situ Characterization and Multiscale Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multiscale experiments and modeling reveal how Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets reinforce PVDF nanocomposites. An optimal MXene loading (∼1 wt.%) nearly doubles tensile strength through efficient stress transfer, flake alignment, and crack‐deflection mechanisms, transforming ductile polymer behavior into a controlled multi‐stage fracture pathway which aligns ...

Evaluating the Potential of Augmented Reality Interfaces for Exploring Underwater Historical Sites

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Underwater cultural heritage sites represent an attractive and exciting experience for diving tourists, even if often it is complicated for them to understand the significance and value of the remains that are usually strongly damaged and covered by the ...

Regulated Ion‐Diffusion Hydrogels for Subtle and Multimodal Temperature‐Strain Sensing in Wound Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A soft, dual‐channel hydrogel patch enables simultaneous detection of wound temperature and strain by integrating ion‐diffusion‐mediated thermoelectric and resistive sensing. The conformal design maintains stable performance during motion, capturing subtle inflammatory and mechanical changes for continuous wound monitoring.

Evaluating Geostationary Satellite-Based Approaches for NDVI Gap Filling in Polar-Orbiting Satellite Observations

open access: yesSensors
The Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) derived from polar-orbiting satellites is widely used for vegetation monitoring; however, its temporal continuity is often limited by cloud contamination and fixed revisit cycles.

Risk Analysis for Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Operations in Extreme Environments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) are used increasingly to explore hazardous marine environments. Risk assessment for such complex systems is based on subjective judgment and expert knowledge as much as on hard statistics.

Tissue‐Stimulator Platform for Electrically Stimulating Pancreatic β‐Cells for Long‐Term Functional Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a tissue‐stimulator platform for seamless electrode integration with pancreatic tissue, applying uniform electrical stimulation through optimized design with biohybrid 3D printing. Advantageous effects of electrical stimulation on β‐cell function were observed, including enhanced calcium signaling, islet morphology, and maturation.

A Side-Scan Sonar Seabed Target Detection Algorithm Based on YOLOv8-RDE

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks
Side-scan sonar target detection is crucial in underwater exploration, but traditional algorithms suffer from inaccurate positioning, slow detection, and poor model generalization.
