Validating SCUBAS Predictions of Geomagnetically Induced Voltage in Submarine Cables Using Legacy Superstorm Observations

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Modern submarine communication cables, though fiber‐optic in nature, remain vulnerable to space weather hazards due to their internal conductive cables used for powering repeaters. During geomagnetic storms, variations in the geomagnetic field induce geoelectric fields that drive geomagnetically induced voltages along these cables.

The influence of a cluster‐rooted species on Bossiaea linophylla (Fabaceae) under extremely phosphorus‐impoverished conditions: Phosphorus competition and altered plant–microbe interactions

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 40, Issue 6, Page 1709-1724, June 2026.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Phosphorus (P) limitation may intensify plant competition. However, in severely P‐impoverished soils of south‐western Australia, cluster‐rooted Banksia attenuata (Proteaceae) can facilitate P acquisition of neighbouring species by mobilising tightly bound P from soil ...

Minor epic: Notes toward a different “Anthropoetry”

open access: yesAnthropology and Humanism, Volume 51, Issue 1, June 2026.
Abstract Anthropologists have often turned to poetry as a means of accessing emotional registers of which conventional academic prose is unable to avail. In doing so, they have tacitly conflated poetry with lyric poetry, today probably the most widely practiced poetic genre, associated in particular with the expression of inner feelings and subjectival

Coupled Ionic‐Molecular Release Governed by Dissolution and Diffusion in Multicomponent Bioactive Glass Nanoparticles

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Ceramic Technology, Volume 23, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Multicomponent mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles (MMBGs) were engineered to enable coupled ionic and molecular release for controlled ionic and molecular release applications. The nanoparticles (70SiO2–20CaO–4B2O3–3ZnO–3CuO, mol%) were synthesized via a microemulsion‐assisted sol–gel route, yielding spherical particles (∼560 nm) with ...
