In this paper, we study joint source channel coding for bitplane based video coding over wireless channels. We consider using frame-level intra mode to stop error propagation and using UEP (unequal error protection) to combat channel errors. Our focus is

In this paper, the unequal error protection (UEP) capability of convolutional encoders, in terms of the separation vector, is studied from an algebraic viewpoint. A simple procedure is presented for constructing a generator matrix, which is basic and has the largest separation vector for every convolutional code.

A novel unequal error protection (UEP) scheme using D-STTD for multicast service
IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2009To significantly enhance the spectral efficiency of the MBS service, UEP and MIMO are important core technologies to realize such challenging goal. Taking into account of the implementation constraints, 4 times 2 is widely accepted as a reasonable MIMO setup and is a mandatory configuration of the next generation wireless systems.

Information unequal error protection using polar codes
Unequal error protection (UEP) divides the data into different levels of importance in order to ensure that the most important parts of the source information have more protection than the less important parts.
