Die Bildung von seltenen Al−B σ‐Bindungen wird durch ein peri‐AlI2/BMes2‐Naphthalingerüst ermöglicht, das bei der Reduktion ein Alumaboran‐Diethylether‐Addukt bildet. Bei Reagenzien mit polaren Mehrfachbindungen (C=O, C≡N, C=S) erfolgt eine vollständige Spaltung mit Einfügung des Heteroatoms in die Al−B‐Bindung.
