Optimization of Reinforced Concrete Columns Subjected to Uniaxial Loading
2015The distance from extreme compression fiber to neutral axis (c) is depended to combinations of axial load and flexural moment capacities of reinforced concrete (RC) columns. Since c is depended to different internal forces, the value of c cannot be found without assuming the final design.

Stress-strain relations for uniaxial loading
Flow, Turbulence and Combustion, 1949The mathematical expressions for the stress strain relations of metals in uniaxial loading, which have been proposed by Ludwik and Hollomon and find a more general application now, are discussed. It is elucidated that these empirical formulae cannot agree with the essential behaviour of a metal during uniform straining.

Effects of Cyclic Loading on the Uniaxial Behavior of Nitinol
Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 2011The widespread development and use of implants made from NiTi is accompanied by the publication of many NiTi material characterization studies. These publications have increased significantly the knowledge about the mechanical properties of NiTi. However, this knowledge also increased the complexity of the numerical simulation of NiTi implants or ...

Delayed failure in rock loaded in uniaxial compression
International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1986The long-term response to sustained compressive loading of two crystalline hard rocks of the Canadian Shield has been investigated. Static fatigue tests conducted on granite and anorthosite have shown that in a humid environment the long-term strengths of these crystalline igneous rocks could be less than 60 percent of their dry instantaneous strengths.

Dislocation structure of the magnesium nanocrystal in uniaxial loading
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2016We report on molecular-dynamics (MD) simulations of compression loading of nanocrystalline magnesium modeled by the embedded-atom method (EAM) potential. It is shown that plastic deformation is by basal slip and (102) twinning. The formation of stable configurations of dislocation grids is observed.

Combustion of gasless systems in conditions of uniaxial loading
International Journal of Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis, 2014Combustion of gasless SHS systems in conditions of uniaxial loading was mathematically modeled in approximation of viscous compressible liquid and numerically analyzed. Boundaries of the deformation zone were found to depend on the melting point of one of the reagents and on the volume fraction of refractory component in combustion product.

Kinetics of defect cumulation in uniaxial tensile loading
Mechanics of Composite Materials, 19841. The model based on the statistical kinetic equations describes accurately the internal mechanisms of the process of failure of the material in creep conditions. 2. The main mechanism of failure of the brittle materials which do not contain any initial internal stress raisers in the stage of diffusion damage cumulation is the growth of

Fracture and Failure of Concrete in Uniaxial and Biaxial Loading
Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1990General analytical equations are developed to predict the overall failure stresses for plain concrete subjected to biaxial stresses. Specifically, failure equations are derived for uniaxial tension, uniaxial compression, biaxial tension, biaxial compression‐tension, and biaxial compression.

Temperature effect induced by uniaxial tensile loading
Journal of Materials Science, 1991The coupling effect of thermal and mechanical behaviour of metallic materials was studied by uniaxial tensile test. Heat transfer exists as the specimen is loaded from zero over elastic to plastic region. Cooling occurs in the elastic region and heating in the plastic region. Both theoretical model and experimental results are presented.
