Uniaxial tension test of human skin in vivo
Journal of Biomedical Engineering, 1982The application of uniaxial tension in vivo is a common test method for investigating mechanical properties of the skin. This paper reports an investigation of the strain distributions on the skin surface produced by such a test method. The strains were shown to be non-homogeneous with major concentrations being present near the area of load ...

Deformation of polymer fibers in uniaxial tension
Mechanics of Composite Materials, 19881. A physical model was developed to describe the nonlinear deformation of highly oriented organic fibers in a uniaxial stress state. The model accounts for rheological effects. 2. The proposed model makes it possible to describe the behavior of materials in different loading regimes, as was confirmed experimentally for material SVM in ...

Molecular dynamics simulation of crack growth in pure titanium under uniaxial tension
Molecular Simulation, 2018The analysis of crack growth in titanium was performed using molecular dynamics simulation with Embedded Atom Method potentials. The effect of temperature and strain rate on the mechanism of crack growth and the change of microstructure were discussed ...

Water permeability of concrete under uniaxial tension
Structural Concrete, 2014AbstractConcrete structures can suffer from water permeating under stresses. This paper investigates the surface water permeability of reinforced concrete elements subjected to uniaxial tension. A testing system was developed to combine a conventional loading machine with a surface permeameter.

Homogeneous uniaxial tension of polyethylenes. Temperature effect
Polymer Mechanics, 1975The effect of temperature on the process of homogeneous uniaxial tension of polyethylenes of different crystallinity is analyzed by means of an analytic formula containing two constants characterizing the modulus of elasticity of the amorphous phase and structure of the polymer.

High-Strength Concrete in Uniaxial Tension
ACI Materials Journal, 2000The behavior of high-strength concrete (HSC) subjected to uniaxial tension was investigated in this paper. The complete tensile stress-deformation response of HSC was acquired through an extensive experimental program. The experimental program comprised of testing concrete with compressive strengths equal to 6 ksi (41 MPa), 12 ksi (83 MPa), and 15 ksi (

Uniaxial Behavior of Concrete in Cyclic Tension
Journal of Structural Engineering, 1989A new one-dimensional model for random cyclic tension in concrete is developed. The model determines several geometrical loci, defined as focal points, in the uniaxial stress-displacement plane, which are used to compute the complete unloading-reloading curves.

Size Effect of Concrete in Uniaxial Tension
Advanced Materials Research, 2008In order to investigate the size effect of concrete, four sizes of rectangular prisms were tested in uniaxial tension. The cross sections of the prisms were 50x100mm, 100x100mm, 200x100mm and 400x100mm. The concrete was an ordinary one with the compressive strength of 34 MPa and the maximum aggregate size of 20mm.
