Two‐Layer Planning of Rotary Power Flow Controller and Energy Router Considering Economy and Carrying Capacity of the Distribution Network

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper proposes a two‐layer planning model for rotary power flow controllers and energy resources to enhance distribution networks' economic efficiency and carrying capacity. A novel carrying capacity evaluation index and an efficient hybrid optimization algorithm are introduced to support flexible interconnection planning and operation.

Analysis of reactive power loadability and management of flexible alternating current transmission system devices in a distribution grid using whale optimization algorithm

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper suggests the optimal placement of different flexible alternating current transmission system (FACTS) devices using various metaheuristic methods associated with effective cost management in the distribution network. The outcomes show that the proposed WOA technique generates more upshot than any other evolutionary algorithms in cost ...

Transmission Loss Minimization Using Advanced Unified Power Flow Controller (Upfc

open access: yes, 2018
The capability of transmission loss minimization of the power system network by advanced unified power flow controller (UPFC) is the main focus in this paper. An important factor effecting power transmission systems today is power flow control. The increment of load variation in a power transmission system can lead to potential failure on the entire ...

Optimum Power Flow and Optimum Placement of Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) using Optimization Techniques

open access: yesInternational Journal of Recent Technology and Engineering (IJRTE), 2020
This paper presents the Optimum Power Flow (OPF) and Optimum placement of UPFC using optimization techniques, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Cuckoo Search (CS) Algorithm. The IEEE 30 bus system is used as a test system and performance of PSO and CS algorithm evaluated with and without UPFC on test system. The optimum placement of UPFC is carried

Two‐stage power control method of rotary power flow controller for flexible interconnection of distribution network

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
A steady‐state power decoupling control model of RPFC based on instantaneous reactive power theory is first constructed. The proposed control strategy exhibits good dynamic and static performance, verifying its feasibility and effectiveness. Abstract With the rapid development of active distribution network construction, flexible interconnected ...

Introducing a Novel Controller for Combined Load Frequency Control and Automatic Voltage Regulation of Interconnected Microgrids

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
1) Introducing a novel controller named the tilt‐proportional‐integral‐derivative second‐order derivative controller (TPIDD2) for the first time. 2) Utilising a battery energy storage system (BESS) in each of the µGs to account for uncertainties in photovoltaic (PV) and wind turbine (WT).
