Quantum Gravitational Effects and Grand Unification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In grand unified theories with large numbers of fields, renormalization effects significantly modify the scale at which quantum gravity becomes strong.

Ab Initio Study on 3D Anisotropic Ferroelectric Switching Mechanism and Coercive Field in HfO2 and ZrO2

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study uncovers a new switching mechanism in HfO2 and ZrO2, where the absence of a non‐polar layer along the a‐direction induces interaction between polar layers. Consequently, the switching barriers for growth are lower than those for nucleation in this direction, leading to a size‐dependent coercive field that matches experimental observations ...

Color confinement and Bose-Einstein condensation

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We propose a unified description of two important phenomena: color confinement in large-N gauge theory, and Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC). We focus on the confinement/deconfinement transition characterized by the increase of the entropy from N 0 to N ...

Leggett-Garg macrorealism and the quantum nondisturbance conditions

open access: yes, 2019
We investigate the relation between a refined version of Leggett and Garg conditions for macrorealism, namely the no-signaling-in-time (NSIT) conditions, and the quantum mechanical notion of nondisturbance between measurements.

Quantum Emitters in Hexagonal Boron Nitride: Principles, Engineering and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Quantum emitters in hexagonal boron nitride have emerged as a promising candidate for quantum information science. This review examines the fundamentals of these quantum emitters, including their level structures, defect engineering, and their possible chemical structures.

Unification of the General Non-Linear Sigma Model and the Virasoro Master Equation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The Virasoro master equation describes a large set of conformal field theories known as the affine-Virasoro constructions, in the operator algebra (affine Lie algebra) of the WZW model, while the Einstein equations of the general non-linear sigma model ...

Higher Spin Gauge Theories in Various Dimensions

open access: yes, 2004
Properties of nonlinear higher spin gauge theories of totally symmetric massless higher spin fields in anti-de Sitter space of any dimension are discussed with the emphasize on the general aspects of the approach.Comment: LaTeX, 20 pages, Unified version

Gauge Unification in Extra Dimensions: Power Corrections vs. Higher-Dimension Operators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Power-like loop corrections to gauge couplings are a generic feature of higher-dimensional field theories. In supersymmetric grand unified theories in d=5 dimensions, such corrections arise only in the presence of a vacuum expectation value of the ...

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Lattice gauge tensor networks

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2014
We present a unified framework to describe lattice gauge theories by means of tensor networks: this framework is efficient as it exploits the high local symmetry content native to these systems by describing only the gauge invariant subspace. Compared to
