Understanding the dynamics of mastitis in milk yield: Decoding onset and recovery patterns in response to mastitis occurrence

open access: yesJDS Communications
No recent study has attempted to model daily milk losses before and after mastitis onset and the moment when it begins. Thus, we aimed to describe the impact of mastitis on milk production based on mastitis level and moment of occurrence.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Experimentation and Analysis of Intra-Cavity Beam-Splitting Method to Enhance the Uniformity of Light in the Powersphere

open access: yesPhotonics
The powersphere is a spherical enclosed receiver composed of multiple photovoltaic cells. It serves as a replacement for traditional photovoltaic panels in laser wireless power transmission systems for optoelectronic conversion.

Itinéraires autour d’une plaque-boucle byzantine du vie siècle

open access: yesArchéopages, 2008
A rigid belt-plaque made of copper alloy was discovered unstratified on the site of Menjou (Ariège) in 2000. It has been identified as belonging to a Byzantine type of the 6th century AD, a unique find in Gaul. Here we explore the question of the origins

Multi‐omics and low‐input proteomics profiling reveals dynamic regulation driving pluripotency initiation in early mouse embryos

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

A Comparative Analysis of Discrete Entropy Estimators for Large-Alphabet Problems

open access: yesEntropy
This paper presents a comparative study of entropy estimation in a large-alphabet regime. A variety of entropy estimators have been proposed over the years, where each estimator is designed for a different setup with its own strengths and caveats.
