On the Stability and Uniform Persistence of a Discrete Model of Nicholson′s Blowflies

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1995
The authors study the behaviour of nonnegative solutions to the difference equation \[ N_{k+ 1}- N_k= - \delta N_k+ pN_{k- i} e^{- aN_{k- i}},\tag{1} \] where \(k\in \mathbb{N}\cup 0\), \(N_i\geq 0\), \(\delta\), \(a\), \(p\) are positive constants. This equation is the discrete analogue of some delay differential equation used to model the dynamics of

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Global Dynamics for an Age-Structured Cholera Infection Model with General Infection Rates

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
This paper studies the global dynamics of a cholera model incorporating age structures and general infection rates. First, we explore the existence and point dissipativeness of the orbit and analyze the asymptotical smoothness.

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Dynamics of a Reaction-diffusion Multi-group Infectious Disease Model Featuring Partial Degeneracy

open access: yesJournal of Harbin University of Science and Technology
Based on the spatial heterogeneity and the differences in the range of human activities, a reaction-diffusion multi-group infectious disease model with partial degeneracy is introduced and the threshold dynamical behavior is discussed using the theory of

The global dynamics in a wild-type and drug-resistant HIV infection model with saturated incidence

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2020
In this paper we investigate the global dynamics in an HIV virus infection model with saturated incidence. The model includes two viral strains, one is wild-type (i.e. drug sensitive) and another is drug-resistant.

Strong Aversive Conditioning Triggers a Long-Lasting Generalized Aversion

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2022
Generalization is an adaptive mnemonic process in which an animal can leverage past learning experiences to navigate future scenarios, but overgeneralization is a hallmark feature of anxiety disorders.

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.
