Molecular characterization of drug-resistant and drug-sensitive Aspergillus isolates causing infectious keratitis

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2011
Purpose: To study the susceptibilities of Aspergillus species against amphotericin B in infectious keratitis and to find out if drug resistance had any association with the molecular characteristics of the fungi.

Multiobjective Codesign Optimization of a Planar Pneumatic Artificial Muscle‐Based Snake‐Like Robot for Enhanced Agility and Energy Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A codesign multiobjective optimization framework was developed to enhance the morphology and controller of a snake‐like robot driven by artificial muscles. It improved planar locomotion, agility, and power efficiency. The approach optimized link geometry and controller gains, revealing that shorter muscles near joints and longer linkages maximize ...

On unilateral divorce and the "selection of marriages" hypothesis [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper revisits the issue of the unilateral divorce law, taking into account that: 1/ the decisions to engage in marriage and then to divorce or to stay married are fundamentally sequential decisions; 2/ household consumption has a large joint ...

Comparisons of unilateral and bilateral cochlear implantation for children: spatial listening skills and quality of life [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Recently, controversy in the care of severely-profoundly deaf children has centred on whether they should be provided with bilateral cochlear implants (two implants, one in each ear) rather than a unilateral cochlear implant (one implant in one ear ...

A Toolkit for Targeted Neuromodulation of Striatal Direct Pathway Neurons Rescues Parkinsonian Motor Deficits in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An adeno‐associated virus (AAV) toolkit enables selective anatomical and functional targeting of striatal D1‐MSNs through retrograde transduction. Enhanced capsids and engineered enhancers drive robust transgene expression across murine and primate models.

Unilateral hippocampal sparing during whole brain radiotherapy for multiple brain metastases: narrative and critical review

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
BackgroundThe landscape of brain metastases radiotherapy is evolving, with a shift away from whole-brain radiotherapy (WBRT) toward targeted stereotactic approaches aimed at preserving neurocognitive functions and maintaining overall quality of life. For

Dose‐Dependent Reprogramming of Chromatin Accessibility by SOX4 Drives the Transcriptional Response to Iron Overload

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that iron overload triggers widespread chromatin compaction and transcriptional repression in human granulosa cells, recapitulating features of endometriosis. The epigenetic reprogramming is orchestrated by a TFEB‐SOX4‐SWI/SNF axis, with SOX4 acting as a central, dosage‐sensitive regulator.

Astrocytic Phenotypic Switching in Posterior Piriform Cortex Orchestrates Bone Cancer Pain–Depression Comorbidity via Purinergic–Noradrenergic Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bone cancer pain and depression share a common origin: astrocytic A2‐to‐A1 transition in the posterior piriform cortex. This phenotypic shift disrupts the ATP–adenosine–A2AR–norepinephrine axis, simultaneously driving nociceptive and affective dysfunction.

Multimodal Imaging in a Case of Unilateral Fovea Hypoplasia

open access: yesDelhi Journal of Ophthalmology
Fovea hypoplasia (FH) is a rare, bilateral condition described as the anatomical absence of the foveal pit. FH can be diagnosed and classified with optical coherence tomography (OCT) and other imaging modalities such as fundus autofluorescence and OCT ...
