Rocking-Sliding of a Rigid Block: Friction Influence on Free Motion

open access: yesEngineering Transactions, 2015
Many technical problems involve contact and impact between bodies. The contact problem is locally characterized by normal and shear forces; this contact may represent different types of phenomena such as rolling, sliding, impact and shock, unilateral ...

Some remarks on the damage unilateral effect modelling for microcracked materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This study deals with the macroscopic modelling of the mechanical behaviour of microcracked materials and particularly with the unilateral aspect of such damage which leads, at the closure of microcracks, to a partial damage deactivation.

Beams comprising unilateral material in frictionless contact: a variational approach with constraints in dual spaces

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, beam models accounting for non-linear elastic bimodular constitutive behavior and frictionless unilateral contact conditions are rationally deduced from three-dimensional elasticity by means of a variational constrained approach ...

Leptin May Promote Eosinophilic CRSwNP Progression by Enhancing Eosinophil Chemotaxis and Angiogenesis Under a Type 2 Inflammatory Milieu

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyp (CRSwNP) is a heterogeneous Type 2 inflammatory disease characterized by enhanced eosinophilic infiltration. Both innate and adaptive immunity are involved in the onset and progression of CRSwNP.

Analysis of the Unilateral Contact Problem for Biphasic Cartilage Layers with an Elliptic Contact Zone and Accounting for Tangential Displacements

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2016
A three-dimensional unilateral contact problem for articular cartilage layers attached to subchondral bones shaped as elliptic paraboloids is considered in the framework of the biphasic cartilage model.

Healing Following Endoscopic Reconstruction of the Anterior Skull Base in Patients With Sinonasal Malignancies

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Healing dynamics after anterior skull base (ASB) reconstruction following transnasal endoscopic surgery (TES) for sinonasal malignancies remain poorly characterized. This study aimed to describe the postoperative healing process, quantify time to healing, identify factors influencing healing, and assess radiologic evolution over ...

An Elastic Frictional Contact Problem with Unilateral Constraint

open access: yesMediterranean Journal of Mathematics, 2018
We consider a mathematical model which describes the equilibrium of an elastic body in contact with two obstacles. We derive its weak formulation which is in a form of an elliptic quasi-variational inequality for the displacement field. Then, under a smallness assumption, we establish the existence of a unique weak solution to the problem.

Evaluation of therapeutic effects of D‐limonene following orchiopexy in the rat model of cryptorchidism

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
D‐limonene supplementation enhances testicular recovery following orchiopexy in a rat model of bilateral cryptorchidism. Treatment with D‐limonene reduces oxidative stress (↓MDA, ↑SOD, ↑GPx, ↑TAC), downregulates pro‐apoptotic proteins (↓TNF‐α, ↓BAX, ↓Caspase‐3), and upregulates anti‐apoptotic Bcl‐2 expression.

Establishment and characterization of mouse lymph node fibrosis models

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
The design of the entire paper. Schematic illustration of four strategies for establishing mouse lymph node (LN) fibrosis models. The study further compares their fibrotic remodeling patterns and immune alterations. Abstract Background Lymph node (LN) fibrosis occurs in a variety of pathological conditions, including HIV infection, obesity, cancer, and

Hippocampal Seizure‐Related Burden is Associated with Accelerated Long‐Term Forgetting in Focal Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Memory impairment is a frequent comorbidity of focal epilepsy, incompletely explained by seizure frequency or structural pathology. Ictal and postictal hippocampal dysfunction disrupt memory processes, but their cumulative impact remains poorly quantified.
