Improvement of unilateral spatial neglect with numbering

Neurology, 1990
We examined 8 patients with moderate to severe left unilateral spatial neglect by means of a series of line cancellation tasks. We asked the patients to cross out lines in the 1st trial, to number lines in the 2nd trial, and again to cross out lines in the 3rd trial.

Neurobiology of Unilateral Spatial Neglect

The Neuroscientist, 2006
Hemispatial neglect is a common and disabling consequence of stroke. Earlier studies aimed to identify a single area of the brain where damage caused neglect and sought a single disrupted process that could account for the symptoms. Recent studies have shifted toward identifying component processes and representations underlying spatial attention ...

Rehabilitation Approach to Patients With Unilateral Spatial Neglect

Topics in Stroke Rehabilitation, 1999
Unilateral spatial neglect (USN) is one of the most dramatic behavioral disturbances in patients with cerebral lesions. USN occurs more frequently following right parietal lesions. Patients with USN may neglect targets on the side opposite a brain lesion; and always look toward the contralateral side.

Unilateral spatial neglect

Neuropsychological Rehabilitation, 1994
Abstract “Unilateral spatial neglect” or “hemispatial neglect” is a commonly used term for expressing the failure of brain damaged patients to attend to and explore stimuli presented in the space contralateral to their lesion (Heilman, Bowers, Valenstein, & Watson, 1987).

Unilateral spatial neglect in degenerative brain pathology.

Neuropsychology, 2011
In an attempt to interpret neglect as a disconnection syndrome, it is currently proposed that the disorder results from disorganization of large-scale networks involved in attentional spatial processes rather than of individual brain areas. We hypothesize that as degenerative brain diseases are "system pathologies," degeneration could be restricted to ...

Multisensory stimulation for the rehabilitation of unilateral spatial neglect

Neuropsychological Rehabilitation, 2020
Unilateral spatial neglect (USN) is a neuropsychological syndrome, typically caused by lesions of the right hemisphere, whose features are the defective report of events occurring in the left (contralesional) side of space and the inability to orient and set up actions leftwards.

Unilateral spatial neglect in AD

Neurology, 2000
Unilateral spatial neglect has been rarely reported in patients with AD, although they often have right and left asymmetry of temporoparietal dysfunction. To investigate if patients with AD would show unilateral spatial neglect in the line bisection test, and to reveal the relationship between their neglect and the area of cerebral dysfunction.Thirty ...

Clock‐drawing test and unilateral spatial neglect

Neurology, 1993
We investigated the ability of 25 patients with left unilateral spatial neglect to make a clock face by putting numbers inside a printed circle. Impairment seen in this clock-drawing test did not parallel neglect severity as judged by results of the line-cancellation and line-bisection tests, as well as the copying of a daisy.

Underdiagnosis of Unilateral Spatial Neglect in stroke unit

Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, 2018
Unilateral spatial neglect (USN) is the incapacity to respond to stimuli presented opposite to a dysfunctional cerebral hemisphere. It is usually caused by non-dominant hemisphere lesions, leads to poorer prognosis and might be underdiagnosed. The objectives of the study were to ascertain the presence of USN in acute stroke patients and analyze the ...
