Croatian guidelines for vestibular rehabilitation of unilateral and bilateral vestibular hypofunction

open access: yesLiječnički vjesnik : glasilo Hrvatskoga liječničkog zbora, 2020
Vestibularna rehabilitacija jest planirani, individualno prilagođen sustav vježba kojima se ubrzava proces središnje kompenzacije oštećenoga vestibularnog sustava. U medicinu ju uvode Cawthorne i Cooksey sredinom prošloga stoljeća. Godinama su postojali prijepori o značenju i učinkovitosti ovoga načina liječenja.

Investigation of the factors affecting the success of vestibular rehabilitation therapy in patients with idiopathic unilateral vestibular hypofunction and idiopathic bilateral vestibular hypofunction

open access: yesENT Updates, 2019
Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the  factors affecting the success of vestibular rehabilitation  therapy (VRT) in patients with idiopathic unilateral vestibular  hypofunction (UVH) and idiopathic bilateral vestibular  hypofunction (BVH).

Spatial orientation in patients with chronic unilateral vestibular hypofunction is ipsilesionally distorted [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Neurophysiology, 2016
OBJECTIVE Acute unilateral peripheral-vestibular hypofunction (UVH) shifts the subjective visual vertical (SVV) ipsilesionally, triggering central compensation that usually eliminates shifts when upright. We hypothesized that compensation is worse when roll-tilted. METHODS We quantified SVV errors and variability in different roll-tilted positions (0°,

Functional Dissociation Between Cervical VEMP and Posterior Canal vHIT in 1770 Unselected Ears

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
Cervical VEMP and posterior canal vHIT are conventionally treated as measures of a single inferior vestibular unit. In 1770 unselected ears from a diagnosis‐agnostic registry, the two tests disagreed in 72.7% of ears abnormal on at least one test, with chance‐corrected agreement near zero (κ = 0.097) and unchanged across age strata.

Plasticity of histamine H3 receptor expression and binding in the vestibular nuclei after labyrinthectomy in rat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Background: In rat, deafferentation of one labyrinth (unilateral labyrinthectomy) results in a characteristic syndrome of ocular and motor postural disorders (e.g., barrel rotation, circling behavior, and spontaneous nystagmus). Behavioral recovery (e.g.,

Adherence to customized vestibular rehabilitation therapy: influencing factors and clinical implications in vestibulopathy

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
ObjectiveCustomized vestibular rehabilitation therapy (CVRT) is an effective treatment approach for various vestibular disorders. However, low adherence significantly limits its efficacy, and factors influencing adherence remain underexplored. This study
