ILR Impact Brief - Employee Attributions about HR Practices Lead to Customer Satisfaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
[Excerpt] The perceived reasons why management chooses a set of HR practices are linked to employee satisfaction, commitment, and on-the-job behavior. Employees individually make their own attributions about the purposes behind the practices, which are ...

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Unit commitment with bidirectional ramping constraints of flexibility retrofit thermal power unit

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
Flexibility retrofits of thermal power units have been widely implemented to improve power system balancing. These retrofits enable operation below the regular minimum output, known as deep peak regulation, to accommodate increasing renewable energy ...

Contingency-Constrained Unit Commitment With Intervening Time for System Adjustments

open access: yes, 2016
The N-1-1 contingency criterion considers the con- secutive loss of two components in a power system, with intervening time for system adjustments. In this paper, we consider the problem of optimizing generation unit commitment (UC) while ensuring N-1-1 ...

An Improved Mixed Integer Linear Programming Approach Based on Symmetry Diminishing for Unit Commitment of Hybrid Power System

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
In this paper, the mixed integer linear programming (MILP) for solving unit commitment (UC) problems in a hybrid power system containing thermal, hydro, and wind power have been studied.

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Partnership with Partial Commitment [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper derives the Nash-equilibrium degrees of commitment to a partnership where lack of full commitment fuels suspicion and increases potential losses for partners.Structural break, unit root test, Lebanon ...

Transmission-Constrained Unit Commitment

open access: yes, 2018
The unit commitment with transmission constraints in the alternating-current (AC) model is a challenging mixed-integer non-linear optimisation problem. We present an approach based on decomposition of a Mixed-Integer Semidefinite Programming (MISDP) problem into a mixed-integer quadratic (MIQP) master problem and a semidefinite programming (SDP) sub ...

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

Unit commitment for systems with significant wind penetration [PDF]

open access: yes
The stochastic nature of wind alters the unit commitment and dispatch problem. By accounting for this uncertainty when scheduling the system, more robust schedules are produced, which should, on average, reduce expected costs.
