Minimal surfaces and Schwarz lemma

open access: yes, 2022
We prove a sharp Schwarz type inequality for the Weierstrass- Enneper representation of the minimal surfaces. It states the following. If $F:\mathbf{D}\to \Sigma$ is a conformal harmonic parameterization of a minimal disk $\Sigma$, where $\mathbf{D}$ is ...

Challenges during Flash Lamp Annealing of Aerosol‐Deposited Barium Titanate Films

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Aerosol deposition is used to rapidly deposit barium titanate films with thicknesses ranging from 2 to 16 μm at room temperature, eliminating the need for further densification. However, to recover the electromechanical properties, annealing is required, which limits the usage of temperature‐sensitive substrates.

Inequalities of harmonic univalent functions with connections of hypergeometric functions

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2015
Let SH be the class of functions f = h+g that are harmonic univalent and sense-preserving in the open unit disk U = { z : |z| < 1} for which f (0) = f'(0)-1=0. In this paper, we introduce and study a subclass H( α, β) of the class SH and the subclass NH(

A PTAS for the Weighted Unit Disk Cover Problem [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Colloquium on Automata, Languages and Programming, 2015
We are given a set of weighted unit disks and a set of points in Euclidean plane. The minimum weight unit disk cover (WUDC) problem asks for a subset of disks of minimum total weight that covers all given points.

Can Ti‐Based MXenes Serve as Solid Lubricants for Brake Applications? A Tribological Study

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the first implementation of Ti‐based MXenes materials in brake pad friction composite material. The resulting composite material exhibits a 48% reduction in the wear rate; alongside significant improvements are observed for thermal and mechanical properties.

Fast Disk Conformal Parameterization of Simply-connected Open Surfaces

open access: yes, 2014
Surface parameterizations have been widely used in computer graphics and geometry processing. In particular, as simply-connected open surfaces are conformally equivalent to the unit disk, it is desirable to compute the disk conformal parameterizations of

Approximation Algorithm for Minimum Weight Fault-Tolerant Virtual Backbone in Unit Disk Graphs [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, 2015
In a wireless sensor network, the virtual backbone plays an important role. Due to accidental damage or energy depletion, it is desirable that the virtual backbone is fault-tolerant. A fault-tolerant virtual backbone can be modeled as a $k$ -connected $

Approximation Algorithms for Unit Disk Graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We consider several graph theoretic problems on unit disk graphs (Maximum Independent Set, Minimum Vertex Cover, and Minimum (Connected) Dominating Set) relevant to mobile ad hoc networks. We propose two new notions: thickness and density. If the thickness of a unit disk graph is bounded, then the mentioned problems can be solved in polynomial time ...

Two optimization problems for unit disks

open access: yesComputational Geometry, 2018
We present an implementation of a recent algorithm to compute shortest-path trees in unit disk graphs in $O(n\log n)$ worst-case time, where $n$ is the number of disks. In the minimum-separation problem, we are given $n$ unit disks and two points $s$ and $t$, not contained in any of the disks, and we want to compute the minimum number of disks one ...

Exploring Dipolar Dynamics and Ionic Transport in Metal‐Organic Frameworks: Experimental and Theoretical Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the interplay of dipolar dynamics and ionic charge transport in MOF compounds is investigated. Synthesizing the novel structure CFA‐25 with integrated freely rotating dipolar groups, local and macroscopic effects, including interactions with Cs cations are explored.
