Accreditation Against Limited Adversarial Noise

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, EarlyView.
An upgraded accreditation (a variant of quantum verification) scheme is presented, significantly relaxing the assumptions, to allow adversarial noise, while preserving the suitability for near‐term / immediate usage. Abstract An accreditation protocol (a variety of quantum verification) is presented, where error is assumed to be adversarial (in ...

Beyond the hidden curriculum: The challenging search for authentic values in medical ethics education

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Bioethics and Law, 2013
Since the practice of medicine is a moral enterprise, medical ethics education aims to produce ‘good’ doctors who are capable of self-reflective discernment of the many values at play in the clinical encounter, and of re-affirming the patient’s ...

Quantum Inspired Universal Analog Computation Based on Circuits

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, EarlyView.
We propose an analog scheme of classical circuit for universal quantum computation. The information is encoded using correlated electrical signals, and the number of the basic computing components employed in our circuit design is consistent with the number of the quantum gate in the quantum circuit.

Methodology for replacing indirect measurements with direct measurements

open access: yes, 2019
In quantum computing, the indirect measurement of unitary operators such as the Hadamard test plays a significant role in many algorithms. However, in certain cases, the indirect measurement can be reduced to the direct measurement, where a quantum state

On the compatibility of single‐scan terrestrial LiDAR with digital photogrammetry and field inventory metrics of vegetation structure in forest and agroforestry landscapes

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
The single‐scan approach to terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) and the self‐terrain‐normalized form of drone‐based digital aerial photogrammetry (DAP) offer practical options for rapid assessment of the vegetation structure in tropical landscapes.

On the Wigner-Racah Algebra of the Group SU(2) in a Non-Standard Basis

open access: yes, 1998
The algebra su(2) is derived from two commuting quon algebras for which the parameter q is a root of unity. This leads to a polar decomposition of the shift operators of the group SU(2).

Operator entanglement of two-qubit joint unitary operations revisited: Schmidt number approach

open access: yes, 2012
Operator entanglement of two-qubit joint unitary operations is revisited. Schmidt number is an important attribute of a two-qubit unitary operation, and may have connection with the entanglement measure of the unitary operator.

The Epistemic Generativity of Using a Model of a Big Idea

open access: yesScience Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Science instruction should involve learners in generating and warranting ideas, what we call epistemic generation. In modeling instruction, epistemic generation should be achieved by coordinating a model structure with the experienced world in reciprocal directions denoted as developing models and using models. In the former, a model structure
