Symmetry notion as a universal principle of design [PDF]

open access: yesArhitektura i Urbanizam, 2008
Symmetry is a word that appears in a variety of disciplines over a variety of ages, carries many meanings and has always been in direct relation to the most important notions which explain architectural creativity. Wide spectrum of situations with which the term symmetry can be related to, shows the complexity of its meaning. As in its meaning symmetry

Blue Upconversion Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes Achieving 1000 cd m−2 With an Operating Voltage of 2.7 V by Suppressing Interfacial Exciton Quenching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A triplet‐blocking layer controls triplet exciton dynamics in blue upconversion OLEDs. The layer keeps charge transfer (CT)‐generated triplet excitons inside the triplet‐triplet annihilation (TTA) host, suppresses anode‐side interfacial quenching, and increases the steady‐state triplet population.

The Relevance of Inclusive and Universal Design Principles with Islamic Architecture Principles

open access: yesJournal of Architectural Research and Design Studies
Fifteen percent of the world's population is disabled. Eighty-two percent of them are in developing countries and live below the poverty line due to access limitations. Muslims, as the majority in developing countries, have a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities through accessible designs.

Nitride MXenes Beyond Carbides: Bridging the Gap Between Computational Prediction and Experimental Realization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nitride MXenes remain constrained by a persistent gap between computational prediction and experimental realization. This Review identifies the thermodynamic, kinetic, and chemical barriers limiting their synthesis, critically evaluates emerging fabrication routes, and proposes a multidimensional computational‐experimental framework to accelerate the ...

Biodegradable 3D‐Printable and Coatable Antifouling Composites for Marine Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Marine biofouling damages submerged surfaces and raises greenhouse gas emissions. Biodegradable antifouling biocomposites were developed by hot‐mixing beeswax, Tween 80, and calcium stearate or stearic acid. Adjusting the component ratio enables processing via hot‐pressing, 3D‐printing, or dip‐coating.

Mechanics of Telson Ridges in Mantis Shrimp for Impact Analysis and Implications for Bioinspired Elastic Shell Designs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The mantis shrimp telson reveals how ridged biological shields control deformation under impact. Inspired by this architecture, telson‐inspired ridged curved shells transform ridge geometry and macroscopic curvature into bidirectional snap‐through, tunable stiffness, and enhanced hysteretic energy dissipation for multifunctional architected materials ...

Unlocking Brilliance: A Smart Approach to Icon Colour Design Inspired by Universal Design Principles

open access: yesBuildings
Icons are integral to the signature systems within architectural spaces, serving pivotal roles through human–environment interactions. However, previous icon designs often exhibited a considerable randomness and neglected the needs of visually impaired ...

Defect‐Free Transfer Principles for Scalable, Thin Garnet‐Based Hybrid Solid Electrolytes in Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Defect‐free transfer principles enable scalable fabrication of 15 µm‐thin garnet‐based hybrid solid electrolytes. Hansen solubility parameters correlate interfacial compatibility with coating, transfer, and impregnation behavior, guiding rational selection of slurry/substrate, binder/substrate, and binder/polymer electrolyte combinations.
