Shape‐Changing Multiphase Microparticles from Complex Liquid Crystal Emulsions

Liquid crystalline network (LCN) microparticles are prepared from single, double (Janus), and triple emulsions through a simple and scalable bulk‐emulsification strategy. Under heating, the particles exhibit robust, reversible, large‐amplitude deformations that depend both on the morphology and the liquid crystals director field configuration.

Membrane vesicles derived from the probiotic Lacticaseibacillus casei BL23 demonstrate antimicrobial properties against Escherichia coli and a potential biological effect in improving the overall survival of C. elegans infected with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Resolving the Structural Duality of Graphene Grain Boundaries

Cantilever ncAFM resolves the atomic structure of grain boundaries in graphene, revealing coexisting stable and metastable types. Both contain pentagon/heptagon defects, but metastable GBs show irregular geometries. Modeling shows metastable GBs form under compression, exhibiting vertical corrugation, while stable GBs are flat.

Compositionally engineered mixed solvated cocrystals enable modulation of thermosalient actuation. Guest ratio controls thermosalient temperature and propulsion intensity, providing a tunable platform for designing crystalline systems that exhibit stimuli‐responsive mechanical motion.
