A Numerical Case Study of the Papagayo Jet Effect on East Pacific Easterly Wave Development

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 3, 16 February 2026.
Abstract This study investigates the development of an east Pacific easterly wave (EW) event in August 2019 and the effect of the Papagayo jet on its evolution. Convective‐permitting numerical simulations were conducted. These included a control experiment and a Gap‐Filled experiment with a closed mountain gap near the Gulf of Papagayo, to test the ...

Epidemiological approaches to evaluate clinical unmasking of HPV‐associated cervical lesions in the HPV vaccination era

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 4, Page 847-857, 15 February 2026.
Abstract HPV vaccination reduces the risk of developing HPV‐attributable cancers, including cervical cancer. However, an attenuation of HPV vaccine impact after the implementation of HPV vaccination may occur through clinical unmasking. Clinical unmasking is a distinct and complex phenomenon that arises in the absence of clinical interventions ...

Incidence, Risk Factors, and Temporal Trends of Tongue Cancer: A Population‐Based Study

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Tongue cancer is the most prevalent form of cancer in the intraoral region across many countries. This study aims to explore the global burden of the disease, its associated risk factors, and trends in incidence over time across different demographic groups.

Preoperative Metabolic Predictors of Granulation Subtypes in Somatotroph Tumors: A Multicenter Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 2, February 2026.
Somatotroph tumors, a rare subtype of pituitary adenomas, can be histologically classified into sparsely granulated (SGSTs) and densely granulated somatotroph tumors (DGSTs) based on cytokeratin staining. SGSTs are generally more invasive and less responsive to medical therapy, making their early identification clinically important.

Hatching Success of Olive Ridley Sea Turtles in Semi‐Natural Nests: A Pilot Assessment of Microclimate Conditions at Batu Hiu Beach

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
Our study investigates the environmental and astronomical drivers of olive ridley (Lepidochelys olivacea) hatching success at Batu Hiu Beach, Indonesia. We demonstrate that air temperature is the dominant predictor of hatching outcomes, while Earth–Moon distance exerts an additional, significant influence independent of humidity and tidal effects ...
