Measuring unlinkability revisited

open access: yesProceedings of the 7th ACM workshop on Privacy in the electronic society, 2008
Unlinkability describes the inability of an observer to decide whether certain items of interest are related or not. Privacy aware protocol designers need a consistent and meaningful unlinkability measure to asses protocols in face of different attacks. In this paper we show that entropy measures are not sufficient for measuring unlinkability.

Unlinkability

open access: yes, 2021
Unlinkability of two or more arbitrary elements (e.g., users, actions, events, messages, etc.) within a given system implies that an attacker cannot adequately distinguish whether the elements are related or not (Steinbrecher and Köpsell, 2003). When the

Attacking Unlinkability: The Importance of Context

open access: yes, 2007
A system that protects the unlinkability of certain data items (e. g. identifiers of communication partners, messages, pseudonyms, transactions, votes) does not leak information that would enable an adversary to link these items. The adversary could, however, take advantage of hints from the context in which the system operates.

Cryptanalysis of an Efficient Secret Handshakes Scheme with Unlinkability

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2011
In 2011, Gu-Xue proposed an improved secret handshakes scheme with unlinkability based on the Huang-Cao scheme that can achieve strong unlinkability against an outsider adversary.
