Mechanisms of unreduced gamete formation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yes, 2019
Polyploidy is a widespread phenomenon in plants, which is commonly believed to arise through the production of unreduced (2n) gametes due to meiotic failure. Despite the importance of unreduced gamete formation for plant polyploidization, the mechanisms leading to their formation are not well understood. Previous work of our group indicated that JASON (

Polyploidy among plant species extraneous in Indiana [PDF]

open access: yes, 1950
This study was undertaken for the purpose of determining whether there is any relationship between polyploidy and geographic distribution with special reference to species extraneous in a given area.

Análisis de la producción y frecuencia de microsporas no reducidas en diploides de Turnera sidoides (Turneraceae) Analysis of the production and frequency of unreduced microspores in diploids of Turnera sidoides (Turneraceae)

Matromorfie in Brassica oleracea L. [PDF]

open access: yes

Sources of genetic variation in unreduced gamete production in a mixed-ploidy plant

open access: yes, 2021
Unreduced gametes, the primary cause of polyploid formation, are considered maladaptive; however, their frequency and genetic variation among natural populations is rarely measured. Using the perennial, mixed-ploidy plant, Chamerion angustifolium, I investigated the magnitude and two sources of variation in unreduced gamete production: elevation and ...

Induction of Unreduced Gamete in Phalaenopsis by N_2O Treatments

open access: yesInduction of Unreduced Gamete in Phalaenopsis by N_2O Treatments
We attempted to induce unreduced gamete of Phalaenopsis by arresting the meiotic process with nitrous oxide gas (N_2O). Phalaenopsis amabilis and P. equestris (2n=2x=38) were treated with nitrous oxide gas under pressure for 0, 24, 48 and 68 hrs. The treatments for 24 and 48 hrs induced unreduced gamete in P.
