Modeling server-unreliability in closed queuing-networks

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1989
A method is presented to model server unreliability in closed queuing networks. Breakdowns and repairs of servers, assumed to be time-dependent, are modeled using virtual customers and virtual servers in the system. The problem is thus converted into a closed queue with all reliable servers and preemptive resume priority centers.

A queueing system with an unreliable server and periodic checking

Cybernetics, 1988
An M/G/1 queueing system is considered in which the server is subject to failures, but only while it is passive. There are two types of failures which differ in the way they are detected, viz., either instantaneously or during periodic checking. Under some additional model assumptions the author analyses the queue length process and virtual waiting ...

NUMBER OF RETRIALS IN A FINITE SOURCE RETRIAL QUEUE WITH UNRELIABLE SERVER

Asia-Pacific Journal of Operational Research, 2014
The object of this paper is to continue investigation of a single server retrial queue with finite number of sources in which the server is subjected to breakdowns and repairs. The server life time as well as the intervals between repetitions are exponentially distributed, while the repair and the service times are generally distributed.

Queueing Systems with Unreliable Servers in a Random Environment

2014
A single-server queueing system with a Poisson input and an unreliable server is studied. The breakdowns of the server are connected to a certain external factor, defined by a regenerative stochastic process. In this paper one assumes that the arrival process, customers’s service times, and an external environment are mutually independent.

Two-Server Queueing System with Unreliable Servers and Markovian Arrival Process

2017
In this paper, we investigate a queueing system consisting of an infinite buffer and two unreliable heterogeneous servers which fail alternately. If both servers are able to provide the service, they serve a customer in parallel, independently of each other. The service of a customer is completed when his/her service by any of two servers ends.
