Genome‐wide prediction of cloned disease resistance homologues across the Oryza genus

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 19, Issue 4, December 2026.
Abstract The wild relatives of rice (Oryza sativa L.) represent reservoirs of genetic diversity and potential sources of novel pest and disease resistance. The recent availability of high‐quality Oryza genome assemblies has enabled greater exploration of this diversity across the genus.

Minimally processed, human‐grade diet alters canine epigenetic ageing: Results from a pilot study

open access: yesVeterinary Record Open, Volume 13, Issue 2, December 2026.
Abstract Background Diet plays a critical role in promoting wellness and longevity in both humans and canines. Epigenetic ageing clocks have emerged as accurate tools for assessing biological ageing and evaluating dietary and lifestyle interventions in humans and mice.

Growth dynamics, skeletochronology, and histovariability of the theropod dinosaur Berthasaura leopoldinae

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 309, Issue 11, Page 3169-3186, November 2026.
Osteohistological sampling on different bones of theropod dinosaur documents discrepant age record, growth, and metabolism. This could result unprecise paleobiological inferences if samplings are based on single bones. However, multi‐bone sampling can attenuate these discrepancies, helping to infer growth dynamics and physiology of these extinct ...

Presumptive necrotising fasciitis with concurrent pyothorax in a 9‐month‐old Great Dane

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, November 2026.
Abstract A 9‐month‐old, entire, male Great Dane presented with rapid multi‐limb swelling, pyrexia and diarrhea following initial treatment for presumed gastroenteritis. Diagnostic evaluation revealed septic pleuropneumonia concurrent with rapidly progressive soft tissue infection affecting three limbs.
