Unstable behavior of the dynamic fracture toughness

Technical Physics, 2006
It is shown that the dynamic fracture toughness of materials substantially depends on the history of loading; this determines instability in the behaviour of this quantity under shock-wave loading. It is found that the minimal value of the dynamic fracture toughness can amount to 50% of the corresponding static value.

Introduction to Unstable Processes and Their Asymptotic Behavior

2020
The purpose of this chapter is to introduce the reader to the basic concepts related to unstable processes. To convince the reader that stochastically unstable processes are an important subject for consideration, let us continue with further definitions and visualizations.

Prediction of unstable behavior in enzymatic diffusion-reaction Processes

Proceedings of the 45th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2006
The prediction of the behavior of biological mechanisms represents an important challenge in the comprehension of some disorders in living organisms. In this sense a better understanding of the system behavior is mandatory. In this paper we use mathematical tools and well established concepts of nonlinear dynamics and control for modeling and ...

Probabilistic Control and Design of Behavior in Unstable Dynamics

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1998
Abstract We present a method of control and design of unstable dynamics based on a probabilistic coupling of distinct dynamical laws of evolution. We apply the method to the chaotic logistic map and to a model of interacting agents. As a result stabilization and control of the unstable orbits of the logistic map and the design of robust collective ...

Unstable behavior of Ga atoms in ZnSe epitaxial layers

Journal of Applied Physics, 1997
Using ion-channeling methods, the thermal stability of crystallinity for heavily Ga-doped ZnSe epitaxial layers grown on GaAs (100) substrates was investigated. Some distinctive features were found: The crystallinity of as-grown heavily Ga-doped ZnSe is similar to that of undoped ZnSe.

Behavior of Elastic-Plastic Trusses with Unstable Bars

Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1966
Sufficient conditions for uniqueness of incremental response and overall stability are established and discussed for elastic plastic trusses containing unstable members. These criteria consist of the positive definiteness of matrices built up with the elastic influence coefficients of bar-forces for dislocations and with the plastic compliances of the ...

Stable and unstable behavior of inductively coupled electronegative discharges

Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A: Vacuum, Surfaces, and Films, 2003
Plasma instabilities have been observed in low-pressure inductive discharges, in the transition between low density capacitively driven and high density inductively driven discharges when attaching gases such as SF6 and Ar/SF6 mixtures are used. Oscillations of charged particles, plasma potential, and light, with frequencies from a few hertz to tens of

Development of a Method for Controlling Unstable Vehicle Behavior

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2007
<div class="htmlview paragraph">It is important to estimate the vehicle state accurately in order to control vehicle behavior. In this study, we used the vehicle sideslip angle as a value indicating vehicle instability. A new method was developed that can estimate the sideslip angle accurately without being affected by driving conditions.

Asymptotic Behavior of Integral Functionals of Stochastically Unstable Solutions

2020
A very important class of functionals from solutions ΞΎ to SDEs is represented by stochastic integrals $$\displaystyle \int \limits _{0}^{t}g\left (\xi \left (s\right )\right )ds \;\;\mbox{and}\;\; \int \limits _{0}^{t}g\left (\xi \left (s\right )\right )d\xi \left (s\right ), $$ where \(g=g\left (x\right )\) is a non-random function.

Gain-scheduling procedures for unstable controllers: a behavioral approach

Proceedings of the 1999 American Control Conference (Cat. No. 99CH36251), 1999
A behavioral approach to the design of gain-scheduled controllers is presented. Plant models are considered to be black-box models obtained at finitely many operating points, and it is assumed that no analytical nor empirical relations are known between physical parameters and the plant models.
