ANALYSIS OF UNSTABLE BEHAVIOR OF PNEUMATIC CONVEYING SYSTEMS

Particulate Science and Technology, 1999
ABSTRACT The unstable conveying zone has been recognized by many authors in their attempts to define the minimum conveying velocitv on the dilute phase side of this zone. It was found that the gas flow rate influences the magnitude and frequency of the pressure fluctuations experienced during this type of flow.

Unstable behavior of the dynamic fracture toughness

Technical Physics, 2006
It is shown that the dynamic fracture toughness of materials substantially depends on the history of loading; this determines instability in the behaviour of this quantity under shock-wave loading. It is found that the minimal value of the dynamic fracture toughness can amount to 50% of the corresponding static value.

Probabilistic Control and Design of Behavior in Unstable Dynamics

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1998
Abstract We present a method of control and design of unstable dynamics based on a probabilistic coupling of distinct dynamical laws of evolution. We apply the method to the chaotic logistic map and to a model of interacting agents. As a result stabilization and control of the unstable orbits of the logistic map and the design of robust collective ...

Foreign Trade Behavior in Thailand: Stable or Unstable?

The American Economist, 2000
This paper analyzes the demand for import and export functions of Thailand. It provides new evidence on both cointegration and the stability of the long-run relationship between trade flows and their determinants. Cointegration analyses are based on the Johansen (1992, 1995) system approach and the FM-OLS by Phillips and Hansen (1990) technique ...

Nonlinear behavior of linearly unstable magnetohydrodynamic modes

The Physics of Fluids, 1978
It can be shown that for linearly unstable magnetohydrodynamic modes near the threshold of linear instability, the mode amplitude A (t) evolves according to ∂2A/Λt2 =λ2A+αA3 which can lead to nonlinear stabilization, explosive instability, or eventual decay, depending on the sign of α.

Unstable behavior of parallel fuses as an opening switch

Digest of Technical Papers. Tenth IEEE International Pulsed Power Conference, 2002
When fuses are used as a pulsed power opening switch, several are often connected in parallel to treat large energies. The waveforms of total current flowing through parallel fuses and of the output voltage could not be distinguished from those in the case of a single fuse, and therefore the currents flowing through each fuse have not been observed in ...

Behavior of Elastic-Plastic Trusses with Unstable Bars

Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1966
Sufficient conditions for uniqueness of incremental response and overall stability are established and discussed for elastic plastic trusses containing unstable members. These criteria consist of the positive definiteness of matrices built up with the elastic influence coefficients of bar-forces for dislocations and with the plastic compliances of the ...

Economic behavior of an enterprise in the conditions of unstable environment

Economic Bulletin of Dnipro University of Technology
Methods. The theoretical and methodological basis of the study is the scientific works of domestic scientists on the problems of ensuring the economic behavior of the enterprise. The results are obtained through the use of the following methods: generalization and comparison to formalize the theoretical provisions on the economic behavior of the ...
