An overview on development of external-combustion wave rotor pressure exchange technology
The external-combustion wave rotor utilizes the unsteady pressure wave formed by the opening and clos-ing of the ports to perform high-efficiency energy conversion, which has a wide range of application prospects.

Unsteady turbulence cascades [PDF]
We have run a total of 311 direct numerical simulations (DNSs) of decaying three-dimensional Navier-Stokes turbulence in a periodic box with values of the Taylor length-based Reynolds number up to about 300 and an energy spectrum with a wide wave-number range of close to -5/3 power-law dependence at the higher Reynolds numbers.

Aerodynamic Sensitivity Analysis for a Wind Turbine Airfoil in an Air-Particle Two-Phase Flow
In this paper, the Navier-Stokes equations coupled with a Lagrangian discrete phase model are described to simulate the air-particle flows over the S809 airfoil of the Phase VI blade, the NH6MW25 airfoil of a 6 MW wind turbine blade and the NACA0012 ...

An alternative architecture of the Humphrey cycle and the effect of fuel type on its efficiency
Conventional gas turbines are a very mature technology, and performance improvements are becoming increasingly difficult and costly to achieve. Pressure‐gain combustion (PGC) has emerged as a promising technology in this respect, due to the higher ...

Application of Steady and Unsteady Detonation Waves to Propulsion [PDF]
The present work investigates the applications of steady and unsteady detonation waves to air-breathing propulsion systems. The efficiency of ideal detonation-based propulsion systems is first investigated based on thermodynamics.

This study investigates friction and wear of AISI 52100 steel under dry sliding in CO2, air, and N2 atmospheres, with and without contact electrification. CO2 forms a stable carbon‐rich tribofilm that reduces friction by ∼30% and wear by ∼85%. High‐resolution TEM, EELS, and molecular dynamics reveal pressure‐dependent lubrication mechanisms, showing ...

The onset of instability in unsteady boundary-layer separation
The process of unsteady two-dimensional boundary-layer separation at high Reynolds number is considered. Solutions of the unsteady non-interactive boundary-layer equations are known to develop a generic separation singularity in regions where the ...
