Genetic Algorithm Based Optimization of Wing Rotation in Hover

open access: yesFluids, 2018
The pitching kinematics of an experimental hovering flapping wing setup are optimized by means of a genetic algorithm. The pitching kinematics of the setup are parameterized with seven degrees of freedom to allow for complex non-linear and non-harmonic ...

Cross‐Scale Hierarchical Targeted Delivery System Based on Small‐Scale Magnetic Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This article reviews a cross‐scale hierarchical targeted delivery system that integrates magnetic continuum robots and magnetic microrobots. By combining rapid long‐range navigation with precise microscale targeting, the system overcomes key limitations of single‐scale approaches.

Capabilities and limitations of Large Eddy Simulation with perfectly stirred reactor assumption for engineering applications of unsteady, hydrogen combustion sequences

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2021
This work evaluates the capabilities of Large Eddy Simulation with perfectly stirred reactor (PSR) assumption and detailed chemistry to predict unsteady, premixed, hydrogen combustion sequences.

Temperature‐Resilient Reconfigurable Physical Unclonable Function Driven by Pulse Modulation Using CMOS‐Integrated Spintronic Chips

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A reconfigurable physical unclonable function is developed using CMOS‐integrated SOT‐MRAM chips, leveraging a dual‐pulse strategy and offering enhanced environmental robustness. A temperature‐compensation effect arising from the CMOS transistor and SOT‐MTJ is revealed and established as a key prerequisite for thermal resilience.

Modeling dynamic loads on oscillating airfoils with emphasis on dynamic stall vortices

open access: yesWind Energy, 2021
We present a modified version of the ONERA dynamic stall model for improving the prediction of the unsteady forces and load overshoots generated by the shedding of dynamic stall vortices.

Modulation of Local Environment for Selective Bicarbonate Conversion to Multi‐Carbon Products

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Highly porous Cu electrode partially coated with an ionomer/carbon composite enables efficient conversion of bicarbonate to multi‐carbon products. By regulating the local reaction microenvironment, this strategy overcomes selectivity and reaction‐rate limitations, achieving Faradaic efficiencies of 43% for ethylene and 60% for total multi‐carbon ...

Three dimensional unsteady flow for an oscillating turbine blade [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
An experimental and computational study, motivated by the need to improve current understanding of blade flutter in turbomachinery and provide 3D test data for the validation of advanced computational methods for the prediction of this aeroelastic ...

Geometrical matching in remote in-tube shock compression by an unsteady jet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Based on the Riemann problem in compressible fluid dynamics, if the head of an unsteady jet acts as a physical piston for air compression, a higher-pressure field than that of the kinetic pressure from a steady jet can be generated.

Analysis of Unsteady Heat Transfer during Ice-Making Process for Ice Rink Buildings

open access: yesBuildings, 2023
The ice-making process is an important factor that affects the ice quality and the energy consumption of ice rinks. An unsteady heat transfer model is established and validated for the ice-making process.

Modeling the separation of water‐in‐oil emulsions in continuously fed gravity settlers using millifluidic experiments

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Emulsion separation remains a persistent challenge in chemical and process industries due to the metastable nature of dispersed droplets. In gravity separators, the overall separation rate is governed by the formation of a densely packed zone (DPZ) of deforming and coalescing droplets that mediates between the dispersed and continuous phases ...
