Evaluating Unsteady Fluid Dynamic Forces in Viscous Flows from the Vorticity Field [PDF]
The vortex force map (VFM) method is a promising low-cost technique for predicting unsteady aerodynamic load from the vorticity field. Developed under potential flow assumption and applied to high-resolution computational fluid dynamics (CFD) data, the original VFM method needs to be further explored for viscous flows, especially at low Reynolds ...

Some Unsteady Fluid Forces on Pump Impellers [PDF]
Spectral analyses of all the forces and moments acting on a typical centrifugal pump impeller/volute combination are presented. These exhibit shaft frequencies, blade passing frequencies, and beat frequencies associated with a whirl motion imposed on the shaft in order to measure rotordynamic forces.

Detailed mechanism of self-excited vibration of a plate supported by air pressure
This study presents a dynamic stability analysis of the self-excited vibration of a plate supported by air pressure. In the analysis, the unsteady fluid force acting on the plate surface is calculated based on the theory of two-dimensional leakage flow ...

Clarification of Unsteady Fluid Forces Acting on Limbs in Swimming Using an Underwater Robot Arm
The objective of this study was to clarify the unsteady characteristics of the fluid force acting on limbs during swimming. For this objective, an underwater robot arm, which has five degrees-of-freedom in order to perform the various complicated limb ...

Forced convection of unsteady magnetohydrodynamics fluid past a porous sphere [PDF]
This paper studies the boundary layer flow of unsteady incompressible and viscous fluid passing over a porous sphere with forced convection. The non-magnetic viscous fluid was induced by magnetic field of the magnetic porous sphere and it becomes Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) viscous fluid. The dimensional governing equations are developed from continuity

Application of modified Navier-Stokes equations to determine the unsteady force effects of a heterogeneous liquid [PDF]
The article is focused on calculating the force effects of a heterogeneous liquid on pipe walls. The solution is based on the concentration of solid particles. The base fluid is assumed to be incompressible.

Considering the vibration generated by a propeller-driven UAV or encountering gust, the propeller will perform a very complex follower motion. A pitch and rotating coupled motion is proposed in the present work that can take more complex unsteady ...

Unsteady Fluid Motion Between Two Infinite Walls Under Variable Body Force [PDF]
We considered an incompressible fluid motion driven by space-dependent body force. For a one-dimensional case, the problem was solved analytically, with the arbitrary choice of body force coordinate dependence. It was shown that unsteady fluid flow can be represented as a series of separate modes, each with its own characteristic response time.
