Fully Passive Electrochemical Oxygen Sensor Enabled With Organic Electrochemical Transistor

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A wireless oxygen sensor that operates with low power without batteries, using organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) powered by near‐field communication (NFC) is presented. The sensor combines an oxygen‐permeable membrane and a gel electrolyte to detect oxygen in air and complex liquids, making way for sustainable sensor technologies.

3D Printed Optics Achieves Broadband Structured Light

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
The arbitrary creation of structured light often requires complex design and fabrication steps and is largely limited to single wavelength. By leveraging off the toolkit for digital holograms, how complex amplitude modulation can be implemented as 3D printed optics in a manner that is broadband is shown, for the creation of multiwavelength forms ...

Characterizing and Predicting Supply-side Engagement on Crowd-contributed Video Sharing Platforms [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Video sharing and entertainment websites have rapidly grown in popularity and now constitute some of the most visited websites on the Internet. Despite the active user engagement on these online video-sharing platforms, most of recent research on online media platforms have restricted themselves to networking based social media sites, like Facebook or ...

BitTorrent Experiments on Testbeds: A Study of the Impact of Network Latencies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper, we study the impact of network latency on the time required to download a file distributed using BitTorrent. This study is essential to understand if testbeds can be used for experimental evaluation of BitTorrent.

Precision Construction of Chiral Optical Fields with Nine Controllable Degrees of Freedom

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
Chiral optical fields (COFs) offer multiple controllable degrees of freedom (DOFs), enabling applications in optical tweezers, manufacturing, and encryption. However, achieving precise sidelobe control remains a challenge. This work introduces a modular multilayer annular phase plate to fine‐tune COFs by manipulating nine DOFs.

Collaborative Uploading in Heterogeneous Networks: Optimal and Adaptive Strategies [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Collaborative uploading describes a type of crowdsourcing scenario in networked environments where a device utilizes multiple paths over neighboring devices to upload content to a centralized processing entity such as a cloud service. Intermediate devices may aggregate and preprocess this data stream.

The Frequency‐Domain Lattice Boltzmann Method (FreqD‐LBM): A Versatile Tool to Predict the QCM Response Induced by Structured Samples

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, EarlyView.
FreqD‐LBM simulates the oscillatory flow at the surface of a QCM‐D resonator in the presence of structured adsorbates. It derives shifts of frequency and bandwidth (equivalent to dissipation) on different overtones. Applications include rough surfaces, adsorbed rigid particles, adsorbed viscoelastic particles, spheres floating freely above the surface,
