The Upper Carboniferous Rocks of the Ingleton Coalfield

Quarterly Journal of the Geological Society of London, 1954
Summary The sequence and structure of the Millstone Grit and Coal Measures rocks in the Ingleton area are described in detail, and comparisons made with neighbouring areas in the Pennines. The Millstone Grit succession exposed on the southern and western flanks of the coalfield syncline is shown by its contained faunas ...

Foundation characteristics of the Upper Carboniferous rocks

Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology, 1968
Summary The paper is primarily concerned with the bearing capacity and settlement characteristics. Mining subsidence is not considered. The location of 'exposed' Upper Carboniferous rocks is briefly outlined in relation to urban and industrial areas, and depths to rockhead are discussed.

The Upper Carboniferous Deltas and Coal Swamps

1974
In southern Scotland and in England as far south as north Yorkshire the formation of deltaic deposits with coal seams and occasional marine limestones, and with lavas, described above, continued uninterruptedly into the Upper Carboniferous. Further south, as now seen in the southern Pennines, North and South Wales, conditions changed at this time and ...

Micropalaeontological Research in European Upper Carboniferous Stratigraphy

Geological Magazine, 1950
AbstractA synopsis is given of the most recent developments from micropalaeontological research on the coal-bearing Upper Carboniferous (Namurian C—Westphalian C) of Westphalia. The hope is expressed that a wider use of the technique of breaking down the mudstones into mud and isolating the fossils will, in conjunction with the important ...

Basement Carboniferous in Upper Teesdale, N. Yorks.

Geological Magazine, 1950
AbstractExcavations in Upper Teesdale, N. Yorks, exposed basement Carboniferous at its unconformable contact with underlying shales of probable Silurian age. The lowest basement beds are tough conglomerates cut by compression joints. The constituent pebbles are unsorted, locally derived, and mainly andesites and rhyolites, with vein quartz and shale ...

AN ADELOGYRINID LEPOSPONDYL AMPHIBIAN FROM THE UPPER CARBONIFEROUS

Canadian Journal of Zoology, 1967
A new genus of the Paleozoic amphibian subclass Lepospondyli is described. It is a member of the family Adelogyrinidae, orginally based on three specimens from the Lower Carboniferous of Scotland. Further information provided by this genus forms the basis for consideration of the relationships of the adelogyrinids to other lepospondyls.

Lepidocarpon Sporangia from the Upper Carboniferous of Illinois

Botanical Gazette, 1936
1. Some young "un-integumented" specimens of Lepidocarpon from the Harrisburg, Illinois, coal ball collection are described. The geological horizon of the material is Upper Pennsylvanian. 2. The sporophylls consist of a radially extended stalk which at the proximal end is decurrent on the axis of the strobilus, and distally broadens into the leaf-like ...

ON THE BIOSTRATIGRAPHIC SUBDIVISION OF THE UPPER CARBONIFEROUS OF VERKHOYANIE BY BRACHIOPODS

материалы XV Международной научно-практической конференции
A monographic study of brachiopods from the Upper Kygyltasian Regional Substage of the Verkhoyanie has been carried out. This made it possible to fundamentally refined the species composition of the Late Kygyltasian Jakutoproductus. These refined and the analysis of the vertical distribution of taxa in the key sections served as the basis for the ...
