Geological Journal, EarlyView.New zircon ages reveal that lacustrine sedimentation initiated in the Late Miocene (Messinian), revising earlier Pliocene age assignments. The study results support the interpretation of the northern BFSZ as a broad left‐lateral transtensional shear zone rather than a discrete sinistral fault or simple extensional graben array.

A Snake Dentary from the Upper Cretaceous of Patagonia
Journal of Herpetology, 2011 Abstract The first snake craniomandibular fossil specimen from the Campanian–Maastrichtian of South America is described herein. The specimen, from the Allen Formation in Rio Negro Province, consists of an incomplete anterior portion of a left dentary.

These natural fluxes also introduce a dynamic component to the terrestrial Hg cycle that can interact with other environmental signals and influence Hg delivery to sedimentary records.
