Free convection boundary layers driven by exothermic surface reactions: critical ambient temperatures

open access: yes, 1995
A model for the free convection boundary-layer flow near a forward stagnation point driven by heating from a surface on which there is a catalytic reaction is discussed.

Isolated Vortex and Vortex Lattice in a Holographic p-wave Superconductor

open access: yes, 2011
Using the holographic gauge-gravity duality, we find a solution for an isolated vortex and a vortex lattice in a 2+1 dimensional p-wave superconductor, which is described by the boundary theory dual to an SU(2) gauge theory in 3+1 dimensional anti-de ...

Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Alumina: Effects of Scanning Strategies on External and Internal Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates how scanning strategies affect pure alumina in laser powder bed fusion. Linear 45° scanning yields uniform surfaces but high porosity, while the island‐concentric strategy provides higher density with through‐holes favorable for infiltration. Findings highlight pathways toward optimizing defect‐free alumina parts.

Analytical study on holographic superconductors in external magnetic field

open access: yes, 2010
We investigate the holographic superconductors immersed in an external magnetic field by using the analytical approach. We obtain the spatially dependent condensate solutions in the presence of the magnetism and find analytically that the upper critical ...

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

Preparation of Thermo-Responsive Poly(ionic liquid)s-Based Nanogels via One-Step Cross-Linking Copolymerization

open access: yesMolecules, 2015
In this study, thermo-responsive polymeric nanogels were facilely prepared via one-step cross-linking copolymerization of ethylene glycol dimethacrylate/divinylbenzene and ionic liquid (IL)-based monomers, 1,n-dialkyl-3,3′-bis-1-vinyl imidazolium ...

Random Magnetic Interactions and Spin Glass Order Competing with Superconductivity: Interference of the Quantum Parisi Phase

open access: yes, 1999
We analyse the competition between spin glass (SG) order and local pairing superconductivity (SC) in the fermionic Ising spin glass with frustrated fermionic spin interaction and nonrandom attractive interaction.

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

The random field Ising model with an asymmetric and anisotropic trimodal probability distribution

open access: yes, 2012
The Ising model in the presence of a random field, drawn from the asymmetric and anisotropic trimodal probability distribution $P(h_{i})=p\; \delta(h_{i}-h_{0}) + q \delta (h_{i}+ \lambda *h_{0}) + r \delta (h_{i})$, is investigated.
